Google+ Grows 27% in March, Logs 61 Million Visits

Recommended Posts

Countering perceptions that Google+ is a ghost town few actually visit, total visits to the social network actually grew to 61 million in March, up 27% from the previous month, according to Experian Hitwise.

The following chart, which the researcher provided to Mashable, shows that Google+ has enjoyed relatively steady growth in monthly visits since it went live last June:

So much for ghost town. Google+ is exploding and I personally noticed crazy amount of activity too

60.99 million of those visits were Google employees clicking links through proxies! /s

Also I like how you left out a key part of the article:

Google, which took issue with that data, asserted that 50 million users access ?Google+-enhanced? products daily and that 100 million do so once per month. However, ?Google+-enhanced? includes YouTube, Google Play and the company?s homepage

That's referring to other statistics they questioned. It has nothing to do with the data shown which is done by an independent 3rd party.

People can still be in denial but Google+ is unstoppable and it uses a completely different model from any other social network. It's not a destination but an eco-system that ties in with other Google services very tightly. I follow some people on there that now have passed 1-2 million followers depending on who it is, which is completely insane for a network that launched 10 months ago.

I'm not surprised. G+ is much nicer to use than Facebook.

It's awesome and it's really a mix of Twitter and Facebook but with integration with YouTube and a ton of other Google stuff. I barely post anything to Facebook anymore because it's just boring.

Amazingly I find myself using Google+ for interesting stuff, for connecting with like-minded people while I use Path for closer communication with my close friends. Facebook is kind of on a back burner and I only post there occasionally because there is still a ton of people using it that I connected from my childhood, college and family. As Google+ grows though and more of my family and friends use Android phones, eventually they will come to Google+ so I don't think it's gonna be long before that happens.

It's a much nicer experience as you say.

Is that counting people who actually go to Google+, or just people who load Google+? So many of Google's products now _use_ google+, so even if someone's not actively using it, but is signed up and on a Google property, it could count as an 'active' user for Google+. my 2 cents :D

Google are counting several other sites to 'bump' up the figures. I'm sure those 61 million visits weren't exclusive to Google Plus activity.

I can see Google using the full might of it's influence across the web to push Google+ over the the coming months (and perhaps years?)

Its funny how many said that no one use google+ few months ago when the usage was flat and now when it actually started growing many coldnt stand it.

And Facebook does exactly the same thing, a combination of old facebook and twitter. just like G+, and it has it's own built in youtoube as well, and you can connect to youtube just fine as well, unlike google products that try their best to prevent your from using other services with them locking you into the google eco system. Your argument here relly doesn't make any sense. it would have made a "little" sense before FB added the ability to subscribe to just updates, just after G+ launched, but not anymore no.

I gave Google+ a try a while back, it seemed like a very reliable service and very useful, but if my friends don't move to it then there's no point in me staying there.

I'll be sticking with Facebook until the mass swarm hurdles over.

Jesus.. Myspace still exists? time to go cringe at my old updates. Eeek.

You do understand that Google+ started less than 10 months publicly and already has over 100 million users. There was NEVER ever a service and a social platform that grew insanely like this.

Are those 100 million users all regularly active?

I bet a good chunk of that is people just passing by giving it a check.

Indeed. The other interesting thing is that Pinterest (I site I'd never even heard of) is the third most popular social network. Despite all the advertising and money that Google have thrown into G+ it's been quickly bested by a site that came from nowhere.

its true with any service even Facebook... not everyone are active on any service..

You point is invalid

I'm not out to score points for any social network fanboys.

merely wondering how many active accounts they have.

I visit Google+ maybe twice and month just to check and see if anything's happened. Usually it's nothing that I haven't already seen on Twitter or Facebook.
