In the far past i used to love photograpy but didn't had nothing to do with it in the last 13 years. Now i got a camera as a present and can't stop reading and talking about hdr.
I'm posting here the first ones i took to hear what you guys have to say and maybe learn a few things on how to improve. I think that some of them are good but i might be way off
I'd love to hear what you think

HDRs is a tough world.. they usually look over done and unrealistic, like the second one, there's just to much white "mist" all aroun and notice how the clouds look unnatural. That said, keep on reading and shooting! SHOOT! SHOOT SHOOT! there's a saying here people like to quote

"I took 1,000,000 and until 1,000,001 I learned to photograph"!

So welcome and post some pictures in the gallery!

Off topic, where are the pics from? Usually a brief description would be nice, but don't quote me on that as I don't do it either

They are nice photos but being entirely honest the effect looks a bit overdone, I'd scale it down a bit.

I have to agree with the above that the HDR effect is overdone, I do like the scenes you captured!

Bottom 2 are better, HDR is a bit overdone in the 1st too IMO.
but yeah keep shooting.

I'm really a fan of HDR photography. I think photos 1, 3, and 4 are pretty well done, whereas 2 just seems a bit too busy. I think HDR works best when you have a lot of sky, combined terrestrial background, and some kind of foreground/subject.

As above, if the images look like clay and pastel then the HDR has been over used

use it in such a way that the two extremes of a scene (highlight and shadow) work with each other and not against each other in some kind of colorful mess but this is your new cam and first experience of it so practice and you'll automatically develop self critique anyway

The last one looks pretty good, because it preserves the shadows. I think shadows often have a place in a photo. HDR is for me best used when it brings out details in the highlights such as in a sunset, or when photographing the end of a tunnel. I'm not a fan of HDR that wrecks the contrast. But sure - tastes can be different.

That's a great HDR shot. It's not often you see it this good. Is that fog in the distance?

Yes. It was taken in Monteverde cloud forest Costa Rica

yeah more is not always better hehe. It's like playing with ToonIT plugin on aperture. You can do beautiful mod but you can also overmod the picture as well

Love 3 and 4 in the initial post and the 5th one in the cloudy forest place is gorgeous.
1 and 2 are a little over done, however, they still are lovely images.
3 just looks natural on a bright, sunny day.
4 is lovely as you've really brought the colours out in the shot.
5 is wow, just wow. Any chance at a link to the full res one?
