nukenorman
AMD Dual-Core E-450 Processor 1.60 GHZ OR AMD Athlon 64 X2 Duel Core 5200 + 2.70 GHZ I am going to assume the Atholn is better cause of the higher GHZ but I need to make for sure as now days things have changed so much. I know these are both old processors but I dont do alot of power computing.
tsupersonic
Passmark says the E450 is better. Higher clock != better. A lower clocked core i5 will destroy an higher clocked Pentium 4.

migo
By itself the E450 is better, with a discreet GPU the Athlon is better.

Nope, higher frequency means nothing these days, unless you compare two processors from the same series and generation. Ex: Core i7 2600 (3.4 GHz) vs. Core i7 2700K (3.5 GHz). Your statement wouldn't stand true if you compared something like a Pentium 4 3.8 GHz vs. a Core i7 2700K. The i7 2700K will run circles around the P4. migo
That was really blown away in 2005, the Pentium-M at 1.7GHz performed better than a 3.2GHz P4. The first time desktop replacement laptops were actually for real. Since then Intel has built on what they learned with the P-M (much like the Celeron 300A showed them 256k on die cache was better than 512k off die cache at half the CPU speed on the P2.
