Pebble watch for iOS

Recommended Posts

Straight from their information page, also they do not make them at all yet, the Kickstarter states that they will start shipping in September however, currently there are only Demo models.

Compatibility

  • iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S running iOS 5 or any iPod Touch with iOS 5.
  • Android devices running OS 2.3 and up. Works great with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)!

Unfortunately Pebble does not work with Blackberry, Windows Phone 7, or Palm phones at this time.

Ok thanks I thought it was only Android. What about the iPad ? I wonder if it works with that device sense it is the same OS ?

i assume it would work with the iPad however, it would be kinda stupid as you would be required to be within 30ft of your ipad at all times just to use the watch.

The watch works by connecting via Bluetooth to a phone with an app on it which then sends weather/txt message alerts and other information to the watch. the watch CANNOT function without the use of a connected phone. with the applications.

For those that do not know what it is here you go

Sorry to sound stupid but what's a Pebble watch?>

It's a timepiece you wear on your wrist. Except instead of a quartz crystal, it uses a pebble.

lol, funny dude :) Btw you have a scary face from Robocop 2.

I've also pre-ordered this. It's cheaper than most basic eInk watches in the UK.

I've just pledged $130 so that I can get it delivered to the UK, kind of sucky for the extra $15 since the lowest support with watch is sold out :(

Oh well! Still awesome! Can't wait to get it.

I really like the watch the problem I have with it is the battery life.

On a full charge it lasts 7 days. That's on par with old Nokia phones really.

Yeah but its a watch and it using e-ink I was hoping for better battery life. I think I going wait for the watch that uses bluetooth 4 instead.

Whoop-di-do - it's not on par with a watch.

Not being a dick, but that's how some people will see it.

It's running an e-paper screen (which could have been a retina screen, but being cost effective, they had to do it), it's constant 24hr Blue tooth, with a vibrating motor, memory, and an accelerometer. How much more do you want it to run?

Truthfully, I agree there should be research into better batteries, that's the only other project I think I'll back fund.

Take "me" out of the equation as I'm simply playing devils advocate...

I want it to run as much as a watch.

I think 7 days is actually very good...look at the kindle...1 month battery say the specs, but it doesn't have always on features like bluetooth and only updates when you turn a page (maybe 100-150 a day for an intense book reader)...the pebble update every single min thats 1440 a day...arround 10x as intense usage + bluetooth...I'm surprised it even lasts 7 days when the battery and everything else fits on your wrist!
