Gas, compared to food, is pretty cheap. Even if you get a 2 liter bottle of soda for $0.99, that's $3.74 a gallon, or about what gas costs around here. Same with milk.
Heck, 1 gallon of gas is around 7 pounds, or about $28 worth of good chicken, even more than that for fish.
I realize you use gas in relatively greater quantities, but it is worth noting that the price of a gallon of gas is really just 1 small part in the rising cost of living expenses.
