Mom Breastfeeds Wrong Baby

Recommended Posts

VIRGINIA, Minn. (WCCO) ? A hospital in Minnesota said it has changed its policies after mixing up two newborns recently, according to the Mesabi Daily News.

The hospital said a nurse at Virginia Regional Medical Center brought a newborn to a mother to breastfeed, but later found out it was the wrong baby.

Medical Center CEO Bill Smith told the Mesabi Daily News that the nurse went into the wrong room with the baby and didn?t match the newborn?s hospital bracelet with the mother?s. He said the mother had changed rooms and the ID card for the baby included the mother?s previous room number.

Smith said they are no longer using that card system. He said this won?t happen again and noted that the baby was in the wrong room for no more than three minutes.

Families of both newborns say they are upset. The father of one of the babies said his wife was breastfeeding the wrong child.

I suppose it didn't hurt the tyke but just the idea of feeding someone else's baby seems wrong somehow.

Some women pay a lot for that

People are getting too sensitive these days. It's a strange world we live in...

They're not sensitive at all. They just make it look like they are so they can sue the ass off the hospital for a way OTT $35 million due to the <cough> "emotional trauma".

Please look up the term "wet nurse." An old and common practice in many cultures, including ours until the invention of bottle feeding, especially when a mother could not produce milk - or enough of it.
