Macbook upgrades

I'm huming and harring about upgrading my white macbook 7.1 to 8gb ram from 4gb and the standard hard drive to a 128gb ssd since they are under ?90 now :D i know it will boot the loading times and such but is it a worthy upgrade ??

Well, if you have the money the SSD would DEFINITELY be a worthy upgrade - it made even my old 2007 MBP fly.

Humming and harring? :rofl:

If you do a lot of multitasking or run memory-heavy programs, going from 4 to 8 gigs is worth the price of the upgrade.

As far as the SSD goes, yes! It is very much worth the price if speed is your goal. I do not build any computers (or recommend a Mac) without an SSD. You can put your old drive in an enclosure for storage.

You might want to check on specific brands to see which would work better with your year MB. It's only SATA2, right?

well I've ordered the ssd and ram but was woundering is it best to fresh install lion or just use superduper to clone my current hard drive ?

Depends on how much stuff you've installed so far - I personally would do a fresh install with a completely new drive like this.

New install. Backup all your stuff. Just insert the lion dist hold "c" and wait for it to boot. Takes about 20 min. just to get to the main install screen.
