wp7 [WP7] How to listen to my music collection?

I'm used to listening to my music on my iPhone 4. However, I sold it and decided to give my Nokia Lumia 710 a shot for at least a month (before potentially getting an iPhone 4S).

So... I have both OS X and Windows 7 on my MacBook. How can I load music onto my Lumia? And what app do I use to listen to it?

I don't suppose WP7 can play DRM'd AAC files? :(

dunno about DRM'd AAC files - I'm assuming that is itunes' music format?.

Either way to answer your question. I use the Zune software to transfer MP3s on to the phone. I'm not sure if there is a version of the client for OS X (although there is an OS X synchronization agent but I don't think they are related).

No it can't. You can use MediaMonkey to convert them though. Just convert them and throw them in a folder called err..."Converted MP3s" Organized by using the Artist-Album-Songs folder structure of coarse. Probably a 3rd part app for playing aac...

Use windows to sync your phone. Download Zune software. Just Google it I guess. Did a disk come with it? Pop it in an install it. Be sure to do all your updates! What about a manual? RTFM! (Read the f****** manual) The software should be as easy as dragging your music over to it I would guess. Good luck!

There's a Windows Phone connector application in the App Store for OS X. Haven't tried it myself, give it a shot and tell us how it works.

On Windows 7, use the Zune software. It should automatically try to install it when you plug your Windows Phone into your computer.

Or, on OS X, install the Windows Phone Connector from the app store.

Both can sync your phone with your computer, and can copy your music to your phone.

Yeah, you can copy music from iTunes to the phone with the connector software. Works pretty slick.

you should be able to get rid of that drm protection using audials tunebite. if they are aac drm protected files from itunes I know for sure it works. you can either drag and drop them to audials or play them in itunes and record and convert them at the same time with audials. i attached a link, there is a description for m4v files which also works on aac files, you should check it out, maybe it's what you're looking for

I'd like to point out that a future skydrive update should bring better music streaming to your devices as well. It might however tie into WP8 only, dunno though.

DRM on subscription music is fine, because you're only renting it. There needs to be some kind of mechanism to support that (DRM). DRM on music you buy is pretty awful though.

Well, I wasn't sure if Apple auto-converted their original DRM'd stuff. Are there even any big stores left that use DRM? (I get all mine from Zune/Amazon and have no issue with DRM on my ZunePass).
