like half cost of mobile devices are totally weird license fees which have nothing to do with real patents/innovative ideas deserving protection...

All the companies should just pay whatever is demanded from one another.

Then up the price per unit to cover the cost (including lawyers etc.) and add a new packaging label:

eg. Microsoft Xbox labelled as "Xbox now $20 more! - thanks to the... Google Tax :)"

If they all did this I'm sure they would start negotiating so their stickers weren't on others packaging, or very low figures.

And people bi**h at apple saying their the only ones doing crap like this.

Prolly same ones in here defending Google

Personally I want the Gov to step in, confiscate the patents ( they can ), and charge the Corperations for usage. Use that money to fund other programs.

See if they sue each other outrageously anymore

Doesn't MS also make a chunk off every Android device sold?

I'm not a lawyer, but as I understand it, that is for patents which are not standards-essential, with no FRAND obligation.

The OP couldn't put the full title because of the word limit. It should've been "Google's Got Microsoft In A Headlock: Pay $4 Billion A Year Or Stop Selling Xbox"

I think they're trying to make a point, as opposed to just outright screwing other people. Microsoft never discloses what the patents are that they agree on with other companies. Why do you think that is? So they can't all get together and see if they are REALLY violating anything. MS is just bullying them and it's cheaper than fighting, because there is always the possibility they would lose. The patents are so broad, they could really cover anything.
