I want to try it out on VMware. I think that's the only way to get it. As far as I'm aware, they haven't released ISOs for you to install it on your various different computers. Gerowen
Yep, per their website. Where can I download Google Chrome OS? Google Chrome OS is not a conventional operating system that you can download or buy on a disc and install. As a consumer, the way you will get Google Chrome OS is by buying a Chromebook that has Google Chrome OS installed by the OEM. Google Chrome OS is being developed to run on new machines that are specially optimized for increased security and performance. We are working with manufacturers to develop reference hardware for Google Chrome OS. Chromebooks are available for sale now! Check out the Google Chromebook site for more information. Circaflex
The Chromium OS source code is available for download (Chromium OS is the open-source version of Google Chrome OS), and you can compile and build it. http://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/developer-guide
crispkreme
You are looking for: http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/ I've used these builds before and can verify that these are the same Chromium OS builds that appear on Chromebooks (plus support for other hardware). If I remember correctly, there are two different builds; one for Vmware/Virtualbox, and one for a USB stick. Hexxeh's build server is currently down as he is refactoring his buildbot, but it should be up in a day or two though.
iuerg87yerg879e0rg9erugjer
Chrome OS is the closed operating system that google and OEMs ship with their chrome books, the reason why its closed is because google adds features such as netflix, instant book etc etc. chromium OS is the open source version of it that is freely avaliable to any, more info @ http://www.chromium.org/chromium-os, but you will need to compile your own images to be able to install it etc. http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/ as mentioned by cripskreme above is a good place to get pre-compiled builds of chromium OS that you can expand onto a USB and install. cooky560 Veteran Posted May 14, 2012 Veteran Share Posted May 14, 2012 http://www.chromium.org/chromium-os is where Chromium OS lives, but that has already been mentioned in this thread. I imagine it's closer to Google Chrome OS than Google OS Linux
