Wasnt sure where to post this, but general discussion seems to be good for everything.

Today godaddy is doing a special price thing, where you can get a .com or .net and probably .info for only $2.
This also comes with a free .info domain.

Quote

SPECIAL OFFER! $2.00 DOMAIN NAME!
Register any available .COM, .US, .MOBI, .BIZ, .NET, .ORG, .CA, .CO.UK and .IN domain for just $2.00*

Use coupon: SHOWERS at check out.

hurry up before the coupon is exceeded or expires.
Only sad thing is they make you use a credit/debit card so you can only use it once, but $2 isnt a big deal for that.
Comes to $2.36 total (icann fees on the info and .com)

Well, at least you are paying what it's worth for a .info.

Like internets, especially .com TLDs, aren't already full of unused, parked, "premium" domains due to such despicable cashgrabs, because equally despicable people just can't resist "deals".

Yea, after the whole thing with SOPA, the only way I'll ever go back to Godaddy is if they offer me domains that I never have to pay for. Which will never happen.

Even if the domains were free I wouldn't register them with GoDaddy. I'm serious.

Last year I decided to try them because I had never used them before and they are quite a large name on the internet. What a mistake that was. It took probably 10x as long just to register a domain compared to 123-reg and namecheap. And at every step in the process they attempted to up sell me with services I didn't want. They even went so far as to put services which cost money in to my cart before checkout without me doing it myself and I had to remove them all myself and click a bunch of "yes I accept I do not want this feature" boxes in the process.

If that wasn't bad enough the control panel to manage your domain looks like it was purposefully made to annoy and frustrate you with many page loads required to do the simplest of tasks. Each time they get more ad revenue. And then they sent me almost daily offers in my email inbox which I told them not to do when I paid for my domain. I had to unregister several times before the spam stopped coming.

I went in to my experience with GoDaddy with an open mind but their service is frankly overpriced and ****. I wouldn't use them again no mater what. Even if the domains were free. I now use namecheap for all my domains and their service is better in every way imaginable and a lot more affordable too.
