It is funny, not sexist. It would be sexist if they said she shouldn't using technology like that and instead should be in the kitchen fixing me up a sandwich.

I don't think that would fix in the twitter character limit though.

As others have pointed out, judging by the actual definitions of 'sexism', this isn't sexist. It also isn't misogynistic. There is absolutely nothing wrong with admiring the body of another person. Public consensus on this issue must be changed?more people need to be told that there is nothing wrong or disrespectful about admiring another person or their body. ASUS should not have had to remove that tweet, and they should not have had to consider not posting it.

Oh please. That's just having a sense of humour and admiration for the human form. If the tweet had said something like, "why is she looking at the computer instead of making a sandwich?" then it would be something to complain about.

Thinking about it a little more, you'd expect ASUS to have a little more class...

They're not a mens magazine, or a trashy 'newspaper' like The Sun.

Thing is it's more socially acceptable to hate that woman's body than to love her body. it's tragic.

What do you mean by that? There's nothing wrong with admiring a person's body, and it isn't disrespectful :)

That's a good point! It really is a shame.

  • 2 weeks later...

Too bad they gave in and listened to the "sexist!!!1!!1!one!!" troll folk!

Not hilarious, but when you see it without being "prepared" it's unexpectedly funny I bet.

Like it haha

People need to lighten the flip up...

Bet most of the people calling "sexist" are secist themselves, as most probably wouldn't cry if the photo depicted a man's rear.

That thinking is based on women being degraded to objects (yeah right) and hence they need to be protected... Wait...

So a man could fight this of or nobody would care, but a woman need the outcry?

Ahaaaa...

That's insanely more sexist than saying someone's rear is good looking.

God forbid, the (covered even) semi-private parts of someone look good and we mention that.

Hypocrites I say!

Thing is it's more socially acceptable to hate that woman's body than to love her body. it's tragic.

Amen!

It's ridiculous.

Same can be said about sex and all other sexual interactions.

But we must be so civilized to carry around facades...

You give me back some belief in common sense, remixedcat!

Adore the way you think!

thank you so much ;) and I think we ought to enjoy as much as we can.... I try to....

we are trained to go all out when it comes to hating but we always are expected to repress our positive energies becuase it's "not cool" to do be happy and positive and nice.

I see so many people at stores and stuff that never even smile back or say hi back and very rarely people actually engage in conversations ... it's sad.... when I see someone talk to me and be nice I am actually shocked. more people need to not be afraid to be nice to people.

The comment isn't the real issue here. The sexism comes from the fact that these companies pay women to stand around in skimpy clothing to promote their products, while the media and fan sites lap it up. You regularly see topics and news posts discussing "booth babes" but where are the all the topics on "booth hunks" / "booth boys"?

For all the progress we've made as a society we are still a LONG way from achieving gender equality, if indeed we ever do.

Biology is sexist.

Men are just not as pretty as women usually if you combine the perception of both genders.

Perception is preference, not actually discrimination, so yeah.

More than that:

Apparently tech companies also think (rightfully) that statistically they get far more male attention, with most of males going off on women, it's easy to see why they pick women.

It's just statistics.

If you want to see hot boys and coverage on them, more females need to be geeks.

It's just economy 101, nobody actually favors putting women there just for the heck of it so fair enough I say.

Not sexist in my opinion, and I'd like to believe in an ideal world, we wouldn't have to worry about issues like these.

However, we don't live in any sort of ideal world. People find just about anything to bitch about these days, including the bitching about people who bitch! So was this a smart move to be "funny" at the risk of upsetting people? Nope.

Now if Asus didn't remove it, that'd be pretty awesome. I personally believe if you're going to say something, keep it up for all to see, stick to your guns, and hold your damn argument. If others don't like it, they can deal with it.

But then that's just me living in an ideal world too heh. :)

Why can't more people be logical like you?

Agreed. I've been following her posts more lately as a result too. :p

People are way too uptight and PC (gay too, apparently). It's almost like the population is trying to neuter itself.

This X a million. You'd have to have super thin skin to be offended by something so inane.
