Tiles per column

Recommended Posts

Wasn't the number of tiles displayed per column dependent on the screen resolution? (and the display drivers). The thing is, when I tested Win8 on a VM on a laptop whose screen resolution is 1366x768 (AMD E-350), I had 4 tiles per column but when I finally installed it as the main OS (using the win8 drivers from AMD), I only had 3 tiles per column.

I can't figure out how to adjust it so I just left it as is but after one BSOD, after restarting, the start screen started displaying 4 tiles per column. After another restart, it goes back to 3 columns. I checked the update history and no other updates other than the Defender updates. Is the display driver the only thing that changes the number of tiles per column displayed on the start screen?

There's an option to display more tiles. You access it by bringing up the charms bar on the start screen and clicking 'Settings', then 'Tiles'.

I think that option is only available on screens with high resolution.

I wasn't aware there was an option to change the number of tiles. I think there is a lot of wasted space on my screen. I'll have to double check that when I get home. Can't look now.
