Switching Cell Providers (Canada)

Recommended Posts

Anyone know if any of the Canadian providers currently have a promotion that if you switch to them they would pay the ECF for the company you'd be coming from?

Reason I am looking to switch is the current phone I have, HTC Desire Z, through Bell is about on its last leg and they want $255 early upgrade, $35 activation, plus the price of which ever phone I want. Since I want the Samsung Galaxy S III, I am looking at $450 to get a replacement phone through Bell so I can fullfil my contract with them.

I have recently began looking to buy either an unlocked or Bell locked phone.

No carrier will pay your ECF. You might get $200 in credit spread out over 20 months, but that's it. I say look at it like this - if the monthly plan difference is $20 or more, that will effectively eat up your ECF.

At the moment I'm with Wind and quite happy with them, and I believe they do have a promo at the moment. They also should have a $29 plan with unlimited data coming up soon.

Can you please provide a source? Thanks!

I am currently on the WIND 40 plan, and I know that they offered "unlimited" for $29 last year, but I haven't read anywhere about it coming up this year, again.

It's not official yet, but it's from a guy who has been right with his predictions before. You'll see in 1-2 weeks. Also speculation that there will be a $25 migration fee if you're currently on Wind.
