Man robs bank, drives to police station, confesses

A Gresham man pleaded guilty on Monday to bank burglary in an incident that went from crime to confession in three minutes.

Raymond Carl Knudson, 50, faces a potential 20-year stretch in prison when he goes before U.S. District Judge Michael W. Mosman for sentencing on Sept. 10.

According to a criminal complaint affidavit, Knudson entered a Gresham branch of Bank of America on April 6 and presented a note to a teller that read, "Give me all the money no marked bills no die pack." Then he drove to the Gresham Police Department carrying the loot -- $425 -- to confess.

When asked why he held up the bank, Knudson told an investigator that he had watched "Inside Job," the Academy Award-winning documentary that explores causes of the 2008 global financial meltdown.

That's the city I grew up in! I really think there is something more to this then what is being reported... why go to the trouble of robbing a bank if all you are going to do is confess right away? He must have some kind of mental or medical issues that he can not resolve on his own...

Maybe he just repented? Thought at the last moment that it's not worth to have that much money if you're going to be locking over your shoulder.
