Yup, good tech savvy folks would likely not be working at Worst Buy out of principle, unless it was like the last job in town LOL. Also, most tech savvy folks know that all the add-ons they try to up-sell are usually crap and overpriced, they would rather have salespeople who can push that crap and get results (and probably not feel bad about it at the end of the day).

actually i worked at best buy and im A+, Network+, Comptia and MS Developer certified with some comp sci university background. I hardly consider myself a moron.

Yes, you are a moron working at Best Buy with those certs.

@warwagon: do you know if the customers have the computer plugged into a ups or surge protector? it sounds like its environmental.

I got kicked out of Best buy when i went in one time to buy a VGA cable and seeing all the people with towers in hand at the Geek squad line i imediately started handing out my # and name telling them, i can actually fix your issue(s). I was told to leave, soliciting my business wasn't welcomed.

I made $428 over the course of the next 3 days from 6 out of the 10 customers in that line.

Something else could be shorting it out like an optical drive or peripheral. Check the CPU fan speed to make its not dropping.

There are exceptions (why don't you have your own service with all of that?). I have been flat out told by a manager that they do not (typically) hire tech-savy folks like myself. They want sales people to sell the black tie services.

And if anyone hadn't seen it before... www.ihatebestbuy.com - funny stores from Best Buy experiences.

well then maybe best buy in the US has low standards cause in canada and in my town you had to be at least A+ certified to work best buys geek squad.
