Upgrading if it's really going to be that cheap.

There's gonna be lots of mods and programs to replicate start menu functionality, and the new classic shell + optimization improvements is actually great.

The app store would also be nice if it supports "Non-tile" apps, especially as it would handle updates, but i'm not sure it'll actually be able to do that.

I am a big fan of the Metro style and the price just makes this upgrade a no-brainer for me!

I really think you should have made this poll a plain Yes/No answer. Simple polls save lives, remember that.

Whether or not to upgrade to Windows 8 isn't a simple yes or no question for most on here, hence the number of poll options.

Actually it is. Are you going to upgrade? Yes I am or No I'm not.

You don't need an option saying I'm switching to another OS or that you think Windows 8 is a downgrade. You might think Windows 8 is a downgrade and still update to it which makes your Yes/No question irrelevant. You should have added a separate poll question to ask this question instead of adding it to the Yes/No answer section.

Simple poll for a simple question.

I hate to be the one to point it out, but my answer isn't there. As I said in the other thread I may upgrade, I may not.

"Maybe" for me.

See Intrinsica's reply why I added as many options as I did in my poll.

Yes, I like the changes in Windows 8, but classic shell is what turned my decision from No to Yes.

Not a chance, its the filler until v9. Its the new Vista.

The decision to use that ridiculous Metro GUI on a desktop OS will come back to bite them.

Not everyone wants an interface thats (arguably) useful on a phone or tablet (still cant see the point in those) slapped onto a desktop PC

I guess you could sit there and just watch the live tiles update, if you are one of those social (disfunctional) networking types, but im not one of those either, i have a life.

Not to mention the "Secure Boot" or should i say (attempt at) Monopoly Boot

Anyway I've added an undecided option. That is all there needs to be really. Yes / No / Undecided. No need to seperate it out in to if someone thinks it's a downgrade or not. I know people who think it's a downgrade but still intend to use it but hack metro away. So it's like not clear if people who vote that option intend to use it or not.

When he voted in your poll you didn't even have a maybe option, you just added it in the past 2 minutes lol

Er, I didn't alter any of my poll options at all...

I can't answer this question either.

The question I keep asking myself, what will Windows 8 give me over Windows 7?

I honestly can't see much on the surface, really don't like the look of Metro, looks like it's been designed by Crayola Crayons.

My wife has just got used to W7, maybe in time we might upgrade her laptop or if it completely breaks the new one will come with W8 installed.

Poll fight

Can we have options for Windows RT vs. Windows x86? :p

What can go wrong? At the worst the Battle of Polls will create more forum activity. :shiftyninja:

And thanks for the new poll idea. :p

Unless I get a touch screen device I wont be upgrading to 8.. I have a Windows Mobile device and I love the OS on that, however I do like the idea of swiping away and touching random items on a large screen at a desk.. I could see it being helpful for a full apps.. But for what I do on my computer for the main part... Video editing I wont need the new features so ill just be in normal desktop mode all the time.. Hence I might as well stick with 7

And yet there is the "Undecided" option unnecessarily. If it's undecided, don't vote at all. Try third time with just Yes no options or if the OPs of two threads agree to merging it into a single thread with *just* Yes/No.
