PSN's Dyad: First Play

Recommended Posts

I?m having trouble defining DYAD. It seems like it would be doing the game an injustice to say that it?s kind of like Rez (or Child of Eden, if you?re a whippersnapper) but without that lazy safety net description, it would be impossible to give you a recognisable contact point for the game.

I was warned: Alex said to me ?it?s the sort of game that really needs to be seen!?. So we made a video of me playing the first few levels. Hopefully this will give you an idea of what to expect in your first ten minutes with the game while we struggle with how to define it for a review.

It?s still very early days, of course, and I?ve only just had the bright idea that it might be much better with my surround sound headphones. So far, initial impressions are very positive but we?ll be back soon with a more developed view of the game.

Just wanted to say, so far this game seems AMAZING. Really visually stunning, it is incredibly hypnotic, and from a gameplay perspective, it mixes very old with new for something pretty damn unique. Sound plays a HUGE role in the gameplay, but I would not call it a rhythm game.

What sealed the deal for me is the finally offered a demo of the game. So I downloaded it, and for PS+ subs the game is $11.99 with discount, so really I just had to check out the first level to realize this was a game I would be into. Played one more level before I went to bed, but can see how the game is going to be terribly addicting.

So yeah, for anyone who may have been interested in this game but held off due to no demo, go check it out now as there is a demo. (Y)

Yeah the no demo thing was what had kept me from buying it as I didn't know if it'd be something I like given how hard of a time a lot of people have describing how it all works. I understand the basics I think but will really have to download the demo and give it a whirl this weekend sometime.

Any word on a European release date yet? I thought it was on the store, but just found out it's not. If I could remember my American (and Japanese) account details, I'd download the demo there now (damn the YLOD).
