Shocktillyoudrop.com and Firstshowing.net are live blogging from Hall H and they have descriptions for the new Godzilla footage. What's important is that director Gareth Edwards stressed that the film would be take itself quite seriously. It was also implied that the teaser won't be put online for quite some time. Bummer!

Quote

Silas Lesnick: The footage pans across a city that has been utterly destroyed. We hear a voice over a radio talking about the end of the world. It looks like another giant creature's body is in the wreckage. We hear the classic Godzilla scream. From the smoke, we see something enormous. We're following a camera up Godzilla's back, showing his scales. We see his face, but it's almost a silhouette. It looks a LOT like the classic Godzilla design but with a slightly fatter face.

The narration is from Robert Oppenheimer. "We knew the world would not be the same. Few people laughed. Few people cried. Most were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture. The Bhagavad-Git... takes on his multi-armed form" (This is were we see the other, dead creature)

"And says, 'I am become death. Destroyer of worlds." That's where we see Godzilla's face and the logo

That's the narration in the trailer. It's a Robert Oppenheimer quote about the atomic bomb.

Quote

We see huge black clouds, massive smoke, and slowly it clears away revealing a ruined city. There are hundreds of crashed cars and rubble — buildings are broken in half and people are crawling over the sideways ruins of buildings. Some buildings have had massive chunks torn out of the middle of them, like when a cartoon character runs through a wall.

We see the side of something huge, like a mountain. We only slowly realize it's actually a monster. There is something like lava running down the side of it. And then there are huge CLAWS. The monnster is laying on its side. There is a huge Godzilla scream! Like a massive trumpet sounding!

And then Godzilla is rampaging through the city, trashing buildings with its huge claw. Buildings collapse. THOOM. A giant arm swipes across the city and everything crashes. We see its massive spiky back and then the trademark face. The monster opens its mouth and SCREAMS. - io9.com

Wow. Seems like it will be much better than the 1998 Roland Emmerich film with Matthew Broderick. That one just was not very good.

The Godzilla movie reboot will begin filming in March next year, according to producer Dan Lin.

Lin told Collider that the series revival is deep into pre-production and will offer a "grounded" take on the property.

"We're planning to film in March. We are in deep pre-production. Gareth [Edwards] has really mapped out his vision for the movie, you saw the teaser.

"Gareth, thanks to Thomas Tull's help, he took over a whole stage on the Warner Brothers lot and not only showed the teaser you saw, he had some models built of Godzilla, he had art decorated all over the soundstage, he had pre-vis of some of the big action sequences in the movie.

"We're in deep pre-production and Gareth's vision of the movie is really exciting, it's a true re-boot of Godzilla. And you saw from the Comic-Con footage it is a grounded, realistic version of Godzilla. What would happen if Godzilla came into our world today?"

Edwards will direct Godzilla based on a screenplay by David Callaham (Expendables), David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Rises) and Max Borenstein (Seventh Son).

Godzilla will be released in cinemas on May 16, 2014 - the same day Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot lands.

Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston circling 'Godzilla'

Quote

While Legendary Pictures awaits a Frank Darabont polish on its "Godzilla" script, the studio continues to assemble its cast, entering talks with Elizabeth Olsen and Bryan Cranston to co-star.
Aaron Johnson is also in talks. Sources stress that no deals will be done until the finished script materializes.

Gareth Edwards is directing with Warner Bros. distributing. Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce along with Mary Parent, who helped produce "Pacific Rim" for Legendary.

Character descriptions, along with other plot details, are under wraps for now.

Pic will bow May 16, 2014, with production expected to start next month. Even with Darabont still tinkering, Legendary found it important to lock in its leads to make its March start time.

Best known for her breakout role in the 2011 Sundance pic "Martha Marcy May Marlene," the Gersh-repped Olsen has largely stuck to her indie roots with roles in "Kill Your Darlings" and "Liberal Arts." She does have FilmDistrict's remake of "Oldboy" set to bow later this year, but "Godzilla" would mark her first tentpole feature.

Olsen had been on the lookout for a franchise pic with Paramount showing interest for her on "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot and testing for "Captain America: Winter Soldier," for a role that eventually went to Emily VanCamp.

With "Breaking Bad" going into its final season, Cranston's schedule should be opening up for more film roles. The UTA-repped actor was able to squeeze in Sony's "Total Recall" and Warner Bros.' "Argo" while also filming a 16-episode season of the AMC show.
