TheLegendOfMart
Open Ground Reconnaissance Endeavour Kojimas new game was 'Project OGRE' using the Fox Engine, the rumours are that OGRE is meant to be an open world game, pics of the Fox Engine:
CPressland
As long as it's better than MGS4 :)
Nick H. Supervisor Posted July 16, 2012 Supervisor Share Posted July 16, 2012 I thought Kojima had definitely stopped after MGS4, hence bringing Snake's story to pretty much a definite end (if I remember correctly)? Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the series and the gameplay alone will probably be enough for me to buy this, but storyline wise...I guess I'll have to wait and see as more details are released. TheLegendOfMart
Hes been saying that his next game will be the last game since Sons of Liberty. This may not be a Solid Snake game, the subtitles say "cast out of heaven" which could mean Outer Heaven which ties in with Big Boss. If this is indeed Project OGRE using the Fox Engine, for those that haven't seen it: Kojima has hinted that his Project OGRE would be an open world sandbox game, this is sounding better and better. I agree that he made the statement about quitting in the past, but normally I thought he got dragged back to it due to things like death threats from fans who wanted some form of full story arc? What with the events of MGS4, I would have imagined that the story was as good as complete. I guess they could go back like with MGS3 and instead look at Big Boss during the Mozambican Civil War up to where he creates Outer Heaven. I remember parts of MGS4 where it was basically you sneaking through battlefields, this could have a similar feel. The final scene would be Solid Snake being tasked with the mission of infiltrating Outer Heaven and taking down Big Boss, bringing the story truly full-circle. Note:My MGS history might be a little fuzzy, and therefore the above idea incorrect. It's difficult trying to think about gaming history while working. :p EDIT: Oh ****, I didn't see the screenshots until just now. Maybe I'm going to be right...you heard it here first, guys! :p
LittleNeutrino Veteran Posted July 16, 2012 Veteran Share Posted July 16, 2012 always been a fan of the MGS series (Except for 4 i cannot bring myself to get more than an hour or so into the game/movie/experience/acidtrip) This looks good and would be amazing if it were a sandbox. TheLegendOfMart
I loved MGS4 easily my favourite after MGS1. It is VERY story/cutscene heavy but totally worth it imho Alera 1 Share

Nick H. Supervisor Posted July 16, 2012 Supervisor Share Posted July 16, 2012 MGS 5 was meant to cover the story of what happened with raiden between 2 and 4 if i recall... I never really got on with Raiden as a playable character. And think about the story it would have to tell before he became the awesome ninja, you'd be cartwheeling around like a pansy girl for most of the game. I don't know why raiden received so much hate he was fun to play as although it would have been nice if the tanker episode was a bit longer i played it quite a few times and even obtained the level 3 stamina although didn't have much use for it It was a bold move to bring a new character in and it gave you the chance to spam calls to snake/pliskin Nothing like doing cartwheels in the nude and then to be gunned down by heavily geared enemies :p
LittleNeutrino Veteran Posted July 16, 2012 Veteran Share Posted July 16, 2012 http://kotaku.com/5926278/konami-shoots-down-metal-gear-solid-5-rumors Konami says there is no MGS 5 and that its fake.
TheLegendOfMart
If it was an unintentional leak or behind closed doors leak of course they are going to downplay it and say its fake.
Razorwing
Well there was no Konami Panel at Comic Con was there?
TheLegendOfMart
There doesn't have to be a panel to reveal it, there are lots of behind closed doors presentations at many of the 'cons, e3, gamescom, TGS, etc.. this is just me speculating but I guess they don't want to steal Metal Gear Risings thunder just yet. Those shots are running realtime on a PC, his Fox engine is cross platform. Probably wont look as detailed but I don't see anything in the screenshots that suggests the PS3 wouldn't be able to handle it.
