I like to mix it up a bit.

You can keep VW's level of quality and get a different experience by getting a Golf's sister like SEAT Leon.

It has to be 5 door as I have disabled family members.

I'd check out SEAT Altea and Altea XT too if the size is important.

The salesman was more interested in selling us a Kia Sportage... He also said Kia are one of the top 4 biggest car manufacturers and that they were very popular in America - is that true? I kinda see them as a cheap old persons car but he was saying the designer from Audi designed a lot of their new stuff.

Kia's are good too. It's true what he said about the company. They've rapidly captured the market and they (Hyundai/Kia) have some German folks in the upper management.

And here are my other picks:

- Skoda Fabia Hatch or Fabia Scout or Fabia Monte Carlo;
- Skoda Yeti;
- FIAT Punto or Bravo;
- Peugeot 308;
- Citroen C3 or C4.

OK so I finally ordered today, I went for a test drive in the Honda Civic 1.8 and really wasn't impressed. The test car was the top of the range Civic and it felt so cheap inside, it also didn't have the punch I get out of my VW Golf 1.4 TSI as there is no turbo in the Civic.

I then went to the VW garage to see what the new Golf Match had over my old model:

Front and rear electric windows
Rear Air con
4 Speakers
6 CD Changer Audio
Touchscreen radio/CD player
Cruise control
Front and Rear parking sensors
Automatic headlights
Automatic Wipers
Steering Wheel controls for radio
Bluetooth for mobile phone

I was blown away, so I ordered one... £299, VW Golf 1.4 TSI in Steel Grey Metallic (didn't want another black!).

It's got far more than my previous Golf and the quality both inside and out beat the Astra, Civic and Focus.

I can't be happier, I kinda know what I'm getting but with a serious upgrade of toys over my old car :D

I'll be picking it up on the 29th Sep, it will be delivered earlier but I can't get it til my current contract runs out on my old car.

You lease a car? How much money are you wasting >_<

Out of the list I'd have...

1st - Vw Golf - German and reliable, quality feel with everything
2nd - Honda, will be better quality than a Vauxhall and looks better, sounds better, more comfortable etc
3rd - Bus
4th - bike
5th - walk
190th - Still wouldn't get a vauxhall

:p
Thought the same thing lol. Personally I would never lease a car.

It's not lease exactly, it's Motability (UK Disability Scheme).

Tax, MOT, Insurance, Repairs, Tyres etc all paid for by them. It's a great scheme that barely makes any money.
