Obviously this isn't representative of McDonald's in general. I've been to McDonald's in France, Italy and Egypt and have always found the customer service to be of a very good standard. Very few staff members at any fast food restaurant in any country would dare lay their hands on a customer. This is a case of assault - plain and simple.

In my research, I came across Penny Sheldon, a travel agent from Boise, Id., who was physically assaulted by McDonalds staff in Paris, France, because she photographed their menu.

In general I'm not a big fan of the French, but let's be realistic: This could have happened anywhere. People working there for any extended period of time aren't exactly known for their intelligence regardless of the country.I've been to Paris before and found many Parisians rude, even obnoxious, but this is just insane.
