SCOTT TOWNSHIP, PA ?- A Scott Township woman employed by an armored car service admitted to stealing more than $20,000 over a three-month period.

According to the criminal complaint, Pamela Schulzendorf, 26, stole about $21,000 while delivering cash to automatic-teller machines and is charged with six counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Authorities said officials from Loomis Armored Car in Robinson contacted police in June and said they found out money was taken from various ATM locations and suspected an employee took the money.

Schulzendorf admitted to detectives that she started stealing money shortly after she began working, the complaint said.

Schulzendorf, who is a single parent, told police that she needed the money to move out of her parents' home and care for her son.

Police said about $5,000 of the stolen money was recovered from a lock box in Schulzendorf?s parents? home. According to the complaint, Schulzendorf said the rest of the money was gone.

Patricia Cortese, who works in Scott Township, said she doesn?t know the Schulzendorf family, but she?s surprised at the situation.

?It?s crazy that people would even think of that idea when it?s their job,? Cortese said. ?That?s pretty bad. That?s why you have a job, to go out and make a living for yourself.?

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
