Police officer accused of having sex with prostitutes

Recommended Posts

BREVARD COUNTY, FL -- A Melbourne police officer accused of having sex with prostitutes while on the job could soon learn whether or not he will keep his badge.

In May, a woman arrested on prostitution charges told police she had sex with Officer Jose Otero while he was on duty.

Investigators then set up a camera in a secluded area where the woman said she would go with Otero, who has been on paid suspension since May 26.

One of 20 recordings released shows Otero pulling into a lot and a woman getting out of the passenger door. Both then disappear into a dark area.

The video clips are part of the criminal case against the 42-year-old married policeman.

Investigators seized the hard drive from Otero's dashboard camera, which shows him stopping and meeting up with women in an area known for prostitution.

Police even followed from a distance, recording Otero with a handheld camera.

The four-year veteran of the department is facing six counts of prostitution-related charges.

Melbourne AMERICA not Melbourne AUSTRALIA by the way

What gets me is not the fact that he is a Police Officer breaking the law, or doing it in uniform or in his patrol car, but that he was doing it while ON DUTY - on taxpayers time while not doing his job.

Should be made to repay the city for the time he wasn't working but should have been IMO.

The city did a bad job investigating it, they should have put hidden cameras inside the patrol car itself so they could get enough evidence to prove that he was actually having intercourse or exchanging money. Apparently none of this was captured on tape, only that he was driving them to secluded areas, and the footage is not very clear.

^ It's clearly identified as Florida.

And America is not a country.

1. Not everyone outside of America (yes, there is such a place) knows all the American abbreviations and locales so it is easy to miss once you see the name "Melbourne" as Melbourne in AUSTRALIA is a much larger city than Melbourne in AMERICA, so just pointing it out that there is such a place in America called Melbourne which is a different place to the one in Australia.

2. I did not say anywhere that America is a country.

^ I live in the USA, but I do not assume that Melbourne is in Australia.

And FLORIDA is clearly spelled out.

Some of us did well in geography.

No, the word "FLORIDA" is clearly spelled out in your post. It only has "FL".

Not everyone who lives OUTSIDE America may know the "FL" abbreviation or might miss it if they see the name "Melbourne" first.

Also it is common for media outlets overseas to report on a happening overseas and to have their own location automatically entered in first or have the wrong location names altogether.

Only knowing American cities and locales, but not anything else OUTSIDE America, does not qualify you to have done well in Geography.

I don't know why you are nitpicking at my comments, I was just trying to do a public service to point this out to other people who may have also seen Melbourne, and has geographic knowledge of places OUTSIDE America, and might have thought of the wrong Melbourne.

So then, Melbourne Australia also has a county named Brevard? Does Australia even have counties?

There were only five counties in the Northern Territory, which were divided into hundreds.

So just because he goes with a known prostitute in a 'dark area' means he is having sex with her? Perhaps they were having tea! :p They also seized his dash cam and that shows him talking with the prostitutes, not having sex with them. It seems that either there is allot more information we do not have (most likely) or they are grasping at straws...

Okay kids calm down, who care's how it's put...FL, FLA, FLORIDA etc. Anyways, I wonder what his wife must be thinking about his actions? But look at it this way, he catches something well that's all on him!

Well the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is the only country in the world with AMERICA in the name, so therefore calling the USA by the short title of "AMERICA" is completely appropriate. North America and South America are continents so one could say that anyone living in those two continents are Americans as it is applied to Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Ridiculus that people are upset over the USA being reffered to as America when is it completely appropriate. Unlike any other country in the world.

On topic:

Pay for sex with woman on street = Bad

Pay for sex with woman on the street, but setup a camera and say it is for your porn website = Good, and legal.
