I am confuse here... why do you want to change .torrent to .ico file?

Or do you want to change the torrent file icon to a new torrent icon of your choice?

Open regedit and go to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\uTorrent\DefaultIcon"

Change the default path to the location of your icon ex: "C:\Users\"name"\Documents\Others\Icons\Image.ico" (without quotes) and reboot.

Make sure that you copy the original path before doing it.

If you're not comfortable doing it by hand, NirSoft has a freebie called "File Types Manager" that will let you easily change a filetype's default icon. Just locate ".torrent" in the list, double click, hit the button next to the Default Icon field and off you go. Handy if you're after a certain look and need to change a lot of icons without spending a bunch of time in a registry editor.
