I still say that's a big jump just for a WU related problem with 8888, if that's still the case. Why not go with 89xx or something?

Because if they couldn't fix the QFE problem, then there is simply no choice but to use the next availble build no. that is a multiple of 100 and 16, which is 9200.

i'm kind of eager for this.

part of me hates it, while the other part of me isn't quite so sure yet. i haven't spent a lot of time with any previous builds, but as long as i can use the desktop and not really see any of that tile interface i'll be okay.

any more information on what's going on?

That QFE problem sounds like BS, Vista has build 6000, 6001 (SP1) and 6002 (SP2).
