Bad disguise, bad timing land fast-food worker in jail after holdup

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Alabama -- His co-workers thought it was a joke.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies say a 24-year-old employee at the Jack's restaurant in the Pinson area finished his shift Friday and left work, only to return moments later in mask, wielding a gun in a disguise so bad his co-workers thought he was joking.

It was not a joke. He robbed the restaurant, taking with him an undisclosed amount of cash.

"While he was in the restaurant, several employees even recognized him," said Chief Deputy Randy Christian.

After he left, the manager called 911 and reported the holdup.

"Apparently he needs to work on that disguise a little," Christian said.

Worse yet, authorities said the robbery suspect showed up Monday to visit with co-workers, at the same time a sheriff's detective was there doing employee interviews about the robberies.

Apparently he needs to work on his timing as well.

The 24-year-old man is in the jail and expected to be charged with first-degree robbery. Formal warrants have not yet been issued.
