Read my post again. The protesters are trying to have the company shut down. Thats their end goal as has been publicly stated. They are trying to take away my right to pursue happiness which happens to include eating at that resturant. Their goal is to force me to not be able to eat there anymore which messes with my pursuit of happiness...because those are some damn tasty sandwiches.
It wont happen. If it did this country will have lost all creditability as far as free speech goes. Oh god someone hurt your feelings SHUT THEM DOWN! Lots of people say things I don't like but i'm not going to protest over it.

If he has said people of race X shouldn't marry people of race Y, and people came out to support that, we'd call it a KKK meeting.

I mean, I do agree in part, the correct response should be why do we care what the owner of a friggin' fried chicken shop thinks?
Personally I think racial discrimination is a much more serious issue than this.

I realize that but that is why these protesters don't get my support at all. I understand and even agree with why they are protesting, but I don't agree with what their goals are. If there goals were to entice policy changes, I would be all for it. But that isn't their goal. They are trying to have the chain shut down completely.

Isn't being inside a place of business without making a purchase considered loitering? I'm *assuming* these protesters aren't planning on buying anything while inside, correct?

Yeah, but it's not. Clearly you're not the only one though, since there were an awful lot of lard asses out on Wednesday showing their "support".

Most of these places are inside a mall which means they can actually surround the store. As long as there is a safe way in/out, you can stand out in the public hallway. The owner of the mall would have to say no loitering which isn't likely to happen because its a mall.

All of the Chick-Fil-As here are standalones, with 'No Loitering' posted, as common to fast food places in this area, which is what made me wonder, is all.

Why do gay people think they only way to protest is to flaunt their sexuality in front of people? They do this all the time, it's so juvenile.

So you think if the company was putting money into anti-black campaigns it would be more serious?
How exactly?
Discrimination based on sexuality is just as bad as discrimination based on race.

They aren't discriminating against anyone. They aren't denying service to gays and lesbians.

Thats why I said most. I think there is one standalone here in town. The rest are in malls. The no loitering signs would make it bad for the protesters. Thats a $300 ticket and automatic 6 months probabation here. We will see how quickly this gets out of hand I suppose.

The problem isn't with the guy's opinion, it's with the fact that he's using his wealth and influence to donate to anti gay political causes, he wants America to adopt religious laws with regards to homosexual marriage. In case you missed it, that's a violation of the establishment clause. And it's also funny that some of you are so hypocritical that you'll trumpet his right to free speech so loudly but ignore the fact that they have the exact same right.

Well we could start all kinds of threads about how the liberal left are standing behind laws that infringe on certain rights but that's ok with you..
