Apple TV + Airplay

Hi,

How do I use Airplay in Quicktime with an mp4 file? It doesn't show the Airplay icon for some reason. I am getting the Airplay mirroring icon show in the top right but I am not sure how to use it with Quicktime to try and Airplay an episode of Family Guy onto the TV.

Also another question is, why is my Apple TV remote controlling both my iMac and my Apple TV at the same time? I have a remote for my iMac separately but my Apple TV remote controls my iMac too. I had to disable the sensor on my iMac for the time being.

For the remote you need to pair your Apple Remote to the device you wish to use it with.

This will stop one remote from controlling two devices.

The AirPlay is slightly more complicated.

Assuming you want to do it from your iMac to the Apple TV then there are two ways.

• You can import the movie into iTunes and use Airplay that way - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4437
  
• On Mountain Lion on a supported Mac, you can use Airplay Mirroring - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404

Thanks for your help! Found how to pair now and sorted that woo! I will also look to import it into iTunes and try Airplay that way cheers for your help!
