So I need you valuable opinions about my wish to get the Xperia S. I am not looking for comparisons with other phones, but I am looking for your opinions on the below topics. 1) Updates for xperia S. Will Sony provide official JB update in the future? 2)I am huge music lover, so I need your valuable ratings on the quality of headset comes with the bundle. 3) Battery performance, I can charge it atleast once a day and I am not a big caller. So it is all about WEB and Music. 4) Last but not least, which color looks really smexy???????? *** Please mention if you are a owner :) ****** Thnx in advance for your opinions. There is already a CM10 port out for the Xperia S but has now been put on hold until Sony release their drivers for the camera and other bits. CM9 certainly runs well and very smooth. 2) Honestly can't comment on the quality of the headphones, one thing to bear in mind though is that they are using the newer standard of headphone jack and some older sets with remotes/buttons won't work. 3) Battery life is fine, I get a day out of my phone quite easily, although I would imagine if you are on the net constantly or playing games then it might be an issue not being able to replace the battery with a spare. 4) I've had both colours, white one got damaged so claimed on insurance and was given black instead. I have to say that I loved the white one but the appeal soon wore off and now prefer the black, both are nice though. I'm currently running CM9 with Apex Launcher and loving it, so much quicker than the stock Sony ROM and much cleaner too. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

HawkMan Posted August 16, 2012 Share Posted August 16, 2012 I believe Sony actually said they would be giving it JB officially, and that's the reason for recent delays on other updates. As it is though, Sony is the only Android phones I really recommend, they have good quality, and while they usually have slower cpu and such than the high end Samsungs, they usually outperform them and operate far more smoothly, something even google commends them on, as being the only OEM that actually properly optimizes the OS code for their hardware, getting more performance and battery time out of the same or lesser hardware. Still it's showing the classic Android issues I've seen on all my previous android phones. in the little over a month I've had it, it's now(counting today) locked up completely twice overnight, meaning the alarm won't go off. An issues I was blessedly free of on my Trophy WP phone. It doesn't happen often, and it can be worked around with a secondary clock. But I don't see why Android keeps having these issues with locking up. at least the trophy when it locked up restarted by itself. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I use the phone in some kinda hard manner but my pockets are not big enough and it will be tight if I keep it in my pocket. All I am worrying now is about the screen. No official announcement, and it's an older(ish) phone now - but hey just use a cooked rom! 2)I am huge music lover, so I need your valuable ratings on the quality of headset comes with the bundle. They are passable. Not in any way comparable to a decent pair of headphones. 3) Battery performance, I can charge it atleast once a day and I am not a big caller. So it is all about WEB and Music. HawkMan Posted August 18, 2012 Share Posted August 18, 2012 Nothing really, and not for a long time anyway. AOSP only means you can run stock androd at some point and upgrade earlier. BUT without some"hacking" you will lose phone exclusive features like Bravia engine, in fact I believe Bravia engine is a kernel feature and can't be added anyway without modifying the kernel first. And it is actually Gorilla Glass or DragonTrail glass depending on what one of the two factories your display came from, but because there are two different (but equally good) versions out there they can't market it as anything but "scratch-resistant". You won't have any issues with scratches in any case. The AOSP thing doesn't mean too much for now. But I can confirm the Xperia S is getting Jelly Bean, and pretty soon too. I am not going to hack it or use custom roms as I like to keep the exclusives that come from factory. Just looking to customize the factory made s/w and optimize for me. My last xperia, the X10 did have one pre applied though. There is always one pre-applied, right from the display manufacturer. You can only really see it at the front speaker, there is a double edge. It's quite a thick one too. Sony calls it the shatter-proof sheet (on scratch-resistant glass). You shouldn't take it off though. HawkMan Posted August 18, 2012 Share Posted August 18, 2012 I know how it looks, and I know it's not there on mine :) I removed it on my old X10 back in the day because it started getting scratched when I put in my Zagg, on this one I only have pure glass. I suspect it's the same situation today as back then, there are a few models in some regions that don't have it, could be due to the factory or something. I'm a huge fan of the Xperia Android devices, and I am still very pleased with my Xperia Arc. Sony's support of the Arc, an aging device, has been pretty brilliant, just giving it a new firmware update to stabilize ICS just last week.
