CM9 Stable for all devices coming tonight

CM9 coming tonight.

CM 10 in a month maybe... already seeing ton of merges for CM10.

Update: A post just hit the CM blog verifying what we all suspected: CM9 Stable for all devices will be rolling out tonight. As previously mentioned, this marks the end of development (aside from bug fixes) for CM9 so the team can focus on CM10.

The post also notes that the Maguro build that hit last night actually went up by mistake and shouldn't have been posted until tonight. As a result, a new build (9.0.0.1) will go live with the rest of the stable releases tonight.

Slowly but surely, the CyanogenMod team has been working towards the stable release of CM9 (which is based on Android 4.0). This, of course, is a necessary step before the team will move forward at full pace with CM10 (Jelly Bean).

Now, the first CM9 release has made its way to the stable channel for none other than the GSMGalaxy Nexus (Maguro). At the time of writing, that is the one and only CM9 stable build available, but we have a strong feeling that more will start rolling out soon.

In the meantime, you can grab the download for Maguro down below.

Still gutted my Desire isn't getting it, but understand the reasons why.

Am waiting for SpazeDog to have a release based upon the final CM9 source then will likely leave CM7.2 for that.

I would consider trying it out, but I can't seem to find a complete list of features. I think the main one that I would want to keep from my current ROM (DarkyROM) would be the ability to record phone conversations. I don't use it often, but it can be useful if I'm having an important phone call that includes details that I'll need later.

Does anyone know if there is a full list of features, or maybe just if there is the option to record phone calls?

There is not a built in phone call recording feature that I'm aware of.

As Intrinsica said above, is there a list of features or a changelog?

Changelog from what to what? CM7 to CM9?

Some of the major ones would be

1) Launcher changed from ADW to a CM built Trebuchet, which is wholly based on the stock Android Launcher

2) Android 2.3.7 to Android 4.0.4

3) Major UX overhaul. All settings were built into the settings panel, rather than various settings apps

4) Pointless options reduced. There were too many knobs and switches "just because", so they narrowed down the scope quite a bit. It's flexible still, but not overwhelimg.

Minor but just as important

5) New Mascot (Cid - Cyanogen ID) / Boot animation

6) Lockscreen - Added function where you can add custom apps to drag the ring to beyond camera and unlock. Additionally, current weather and calendar events.

7) Status bar settings (Turn clock on/off/am pm status, battery percent instead of icon, signal db instead of indicator)

8) Profiles (work settings, home settings, sleep settings)

etc etc

List of features / changes vs stock ICS is what I meant. :iiam:

Then all of the above except #2 apply :) And as far as #3/#4, the custom settings from CM7 were carried over to CM9.

1, 5,6,7,8 are all changes from stock ICS.

Oh, another change from stock is the power menu (reboot, reboot to recovery, profile, screenshot, airplane mode, vibrate, silence).

  • The CM Music Player: Functional and the Album Art at the background is a nice touch.
  • The Battery Percentage at the indicator.
  • DSP Manager
  • Profiles ? Something similar to old Nokia phones. A pretty neat feature where you can set predefined sound settings for different situations like Work, Home etc and change them easily.
  • Custom CPU Governers

Already have been on CM9 since the nightlies began and have since moved on to CM10 kangs. This announcement is good news because the official CM10 nightlies should begin rolling out once CM9 stable is released.

Tonight?s release is for the majority of our ICS supported devices, the stragglers will catch up

"Update: A post just hit the CM blog verifying what we all suspected: CM9 Stable for all devices will be rolling out tonight."

but yes, it appears that the word "majority" is correct.

Running the FXP CM9 at the moment and all good, there is still an SMS bug with sending texts over 160 characters but nothing major.

I heard there is a fix but it might be device specific.
