"Back in my country, my president," Mustaine begins and then pretends to gag himself with his finger, "is trying to pass a gun ban so he's staging all of these murders. The 'Fast and Furious' thing down at the border. And Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there. And now, the beautiful people at the Sikh temple." They are too busy performing to really have properly read up on what they talk about. Same with justin beiber and the rape thing.... But yeah, let's blame obama since this sort of thing was always blamed on bush, while we're at it Obama is just as responsible for the drought as Bush was for Katrina. Of course Bush isn't responsible for the storm, but he is responsible for the terrible disaster response. Nobody expects the president to do a rain dance to start or stop the rain... but there is an expectation that Americans won't be abandoned on their roofs for days, and that we should put at least as much effort into rebuilding our cities as we have rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan. Hurricanes happen every year. Why should that one have been any different? It was also the govenor who really dragged his heels in declaring a state of emergency so that federal aid could come in the first place. Dems just liked blaming bush for every thing. Dems just liked blaming bush for every thing. Like all Federal agencies, the head of FEMA answers to the President. As a result, the President does have the ability to directly involve himself into FEMA operations when the disaster warrants it. Does the President need to be involved with every little flood and wind storm that FEMA has to deal with? No, but something like Katrina should have warranted his direct involvement. Having the President directly and deeply involved could speed up a lot of governmental delay as he can order many federal agencies at once and/or demand immediate action from Congress. HawkMan Posted August 22, 2012 Share Posted August 22, 2012 why would you want the president directly involved in FEMA operations of a big disaster. is the president a trained disaster specialist with the best expertise in how to handle that instead of the head of FEMA who should be hired and trained for this... seriously... The presidents role is to stay out of the way of people who know what they're doing and let them do their thing and make sure that agencies are actually run by people who know what they're doing. even if sometimes they're not allowed to replace these people.
