Though Universal has been developing a remake of David Cronenberg?s Videodrome since at least 2009, things got a step closer to reality (which seems like an odd word to use in regards to the movie) today with ads director Adam Berg scoring the job of directing.

Back when it was first announced, all we knew was that Arlington Road / Transformers: Dark Of The Moon writer Ehren Kruger had been engaged to craft the new script, which would apparently update the film?s original premise to include nano-technology.

Cronenberg?s trippy, bloody 1983 original saw James Woods as a sleazy cable TV boss who discovers a weird show called Videodrome. The pulsating signal begins to inflict him with visions and genetic mutations

Way to ruin a vision. This remake wont work for a simply reason: It has nothing to do with the 'new-flesh' revision of humanity that Cronemberg did across many of his films.
