Anyone who walked on another planet would be 'God' really, and never be left alone. Mightier than ALL superstars on this planet certainly, without doubt, but this guy was never seen or worshipped like our 'normal' superstars? I'm pretty sure the USA are breathing a 'sigh' of relief here to be honest ;) Yup. I know it was the old Russia v USA days back then, one trying to outdo the other etc, but I'd like to know what they payed/threatened him to 'shut up'??

It's all over the news, not because its Neil, but because its another secret gone to the grave :)

it's tragic we loose great people like Neil Armstrong, yet we have the duggar chick, justin beiber, the bankers that wrecked the economy, and snooki still here. :(

Agree, Armstrong was a true decent person, and real hero. He was probably one of the most famous people on the planet, and yet never wanted , or used this celebrity for anything. That shows he was a very honest, genuine, and decent person.
We need more people like him.

His decency had a lot to do with a Midwestern upbringing.

Armstrong was a top-notch military (Korea) & test pilio (B-29, Bell X-1A, X-20 Dyna Soar lifting body, X-15), engineer and astronaut. There were none better. Who an forget him punching out of an out of control lunar modulw seconds before it crashed? Or Gemini 8 when a thuster malfunction put the spacecraft into a death spin during re-entry, but Armstrong somehow regained just enough control not to burn up?

The Right Stuff indeed. More like big brass cabones.

RIP Sky Pilot.

George Takei just said it beautifully (on Facebook):

Quote

With him, we all took one giant leap towards the heavens. May he rest in peace as he rejoins them.

Hopefully he'll continue to inspire younger people to go for Mars, I believe the future of humanity is the exploration of outer space and colonization of other planets, humanity has easy reign over the whole solar system.

We do need more people like him but they don't make them like him anymore.
