I've always liked the way things are textured in MGS games =)

Same here. Just really like the overall look of the game itself.

Not exactly what I'd call gameplay, now is it.

Also, there is NO way that it's going to look even remotely like that on the current consoles especially the PS3.

Some people would call in engine game play. I understand what you mean by playing for most equals gameplay, but the fact is this is in game. And especially the PS3? Ummm, are you not aware it has some of the games people would argue have the best visuals of this generation??? Uncharted 3 is easily one of the best looking games this generation, just to name one.

And I really have to take it from both your comments you did not play MGS4. The transitions from scenes like these to gameplay is literally flawless, there sometimes are none, and the first time the game actually let me control Snake in MGS4, I had to pause. Plus MGS4 pretty much looks this good, except they have come a long way with the lighting and weather effects. I would actually prefer if this is for next gen consoles though.

?We?re not going to say that it?s Metal Gear Solid 5,? Kojima said after the demo, ?but it is a prologue.? Kojima also confirmed that the demo was running on PC hardware that was similarly equipped to PS3, and that the final game should closely resemble the demo video.

I highly doubt it was "similarly equipped" to a PS3. If that was the case, then it would mean they used the equivalent of a GeForce 7600 Series video card. NVIDIA released the GeForce 7600 GS/GT in March 2006 for the low-end video card market. Even the GeForce GT 220 outperforms it (see here).

The truth is, current console hardware is severely outdated. I don't see how the game could look that good on consoles. I'm sure the game will look great in comparison to other console games though.

12 minutes of gameplay? Really?

All I saw was 11 mins of prerender cut scene with 30 secs of a guy crawling. How exactly is that impressive?

It was 23 minutes before you even engaged your first enemy in the last one

The cover/movement system looks REALLY slow. If it isn't sped up for the final game, it will just be frustrating to play.

Also, while it may have been in-engine cutscenes (which I don't consider gameplay at all), doesn't mean they don't turn up the post-processing during cutscene footage to boost AA/increase sharpness. Textures and lighting in the actual gameplay clip were noticeably less crisp.

That looks absolutely insane. Honestly, I'm having a difficult time seeing how they could possibly pull off that sort of graphical fidelity on the PS3 or Xbox 360, but if the PC version looks even close to that, then those of us with the hardware to handle it are in for a real treat.

Also interesting to see Big Boss looking somewhat older now, which I suppose makes sense. You can almost

picture his appearance in this game as sort of a midpoint between what he looked like in Snake Eater and what he looked like at the end of Guns of the Patriots

.

Over the last couple years, I have slowly been moving away from Video Games. I remember I used to be excited about so many games coming out but lately that feeling has been subsiding. At present the only thing that has interested me is GTA 5, I had a couple months of enjoying DayZ and occassionally play FIFA 12.

After watching this, I instantly felt that feeling of being excited about a video game flood back! I found myself watching the video and not wanting it to end! I want to pick up my controller and play it!

The Metal Gear Solid series (bar Snake Eater) has always got me excited, this doesn't buck the trend. I'll throw money at this and I'll know doubt pay over the odds for a Special/Limited Edition.

The visuals look amazing! The motion of the guys 'water poncho' when he waiting by the gate is amazing and I can honestly say I have never seen fabric move like that in a game!

Is it me, or does it feel like the FOV is about 50 or something really narrow... I feel like it's all zoomed in

It's really hard to tell what the FOV is because of the third-person perspective. It didn't feel odd to me at all though.

too bad wet surfaces still look like they are made of shiny plastic instead of stone

I noticed that too. Looks like it has Doom 3 disease.

"Actual game should closely resemble the demo" Yeah, we've heard that before.

Gameplay will be top notch? Wasn't MGS4 just a bunch of extremely long ass cinematics sprinkled with some stealth movement and occasional shooting (that didn't look that great to begin with)? I mean, I haven't played a MGS game since the first on PC, but I never thought the gameplay was that spectacular in the game to start with. Certainly the story is bat **** crazy to boot :D
