I dont see anything that says this game coming out for PC. It ran on a PC that was showing us what it should look like on the PS3 but at the end of the trailer is shows Xbox and PS3 only.

Also lets be real here for a sec. out of that 11 minutes 9:21 - 10:07 was gameplay.

There hasn't been an announcement yet for the PC version but so far, it's possible. The gameplay demo ran on PC hardware. And the Fox engine was designed to develop the same game on multiple platforms (just like CryENGINE 3).

Amazing graphics. Every time there is a another big improvement it amazes me when I see how far we've come from the days of Pong!

The graphics are great, and I am referring to the actual in-game graphics, and not the video cut-scene that spans the first 8 minutes or so of the clip. The detail on Snakes face and the rain running down the environment looks brilliant for example.

Looking forward to seeing this game in it's full form.

Not only that but Hideo Kojima said way back when they first showed an early Fox engine demo that any game using that engine could be on PC, and I believe he said at PAX that it would be on PC anyways. Same with MGS Rising (which was announced for PC, but who knows if it's coming out on PC now...) I guess, but that's not on Fox now is it :D

Gameplay will be top notch? Wasn't MGS4 just a bunch of extremely long ass cinematics sprinkled with some stealth movement and occasional shooting (that didn't look that great to begin with)? I mean, I haven't played a MGS game since the first on PC, but I never thought the gameplay was that spectacular in the game to start with. Certainly the story is bat **** crazy to boot :D

I have to say, it really is unfortunate this is the perception of MGS4. Yes, no doubt, it has perhaps the longest cutscenes ever besides the Final Fantasy games, and yes, the story is bat **** crazy, but the game easily has some of, if not the the best, stealth related action gameplay I have ever played in a game, and this includes Hitman, Thief, and Splinter Cell, all games I truly enjoyed.

And honestly to this day, no game has replicated the experience of going from cutscene to game like it achieved. I have shared this moment a few times on this site, but that is because it is worth sharing. The beginning of MGS4 is literally one of the Top 5 gaming moments I have ever had. Watching the 15 minute or so introduction, which was so amazingly filmed and edited it rivals top Hollywood action movies, to then realize "What, I am now in control?" well as I said, I have never had an experience like it, or one since for that matter. I could not 1) believe a cutscene could transition into actual gameplay so fluidly and 2) believe a game could look that damn good coming from a cutscene.

And FTR, MGS4 was the first MGS game I played in its entirety, and I in fact was not a huge fan of the first couple of games, they were in fact to stealth for my liking. But I truly believe they achieved a level of action and stealth with MGS4 that has not really been matched. It is easily one of the best console games of this generation. Easily. I believe it will be a game that will eventually be looked back on as something truly amazing in the genre. I really do believe it is unfortunate it is so easy to hate on because of the cutscenes.

Max Payne 3

While this is a good example of a game that does it right, still not really comparable IMO. The cut scenes in Max Payne 3 were so stylized with their flashing colors and text flying around everywhere and effects, that it was clearly going from cutscene to game because of how they chose to stylistically do the cutscenes themselves. MGS4, cutscenes vs games looked identical visually, so the transitions really really took a second or two to realize you were back in game, so they were truly seamless. MP3 is a good example though of a game that might have come close, but at least no game I have played or seen has been able to replicate the transitions MGS4 pulled off.

Max Payne 3 was very solid going from cutscene to game and back to cutscene. Metal Gear Solid 4 was good from cutscene to game but it would fade to black going from game to cutscene.

12 minutes of gameplay? Really?

All I saw was 11 mins of prerender cut scene with 30 secs of a guy crawling. How exactly is that impressive?

It's not pre-rendered, that's the in game engine. You can tell looking at how their ponchos billow in the wind, it's not natural, and repetitive.

Not sure if it has been posted in here already, but IGN have a 14 minute demo - http://uk.ign.com/vi...-14-minute-demo

I think it looks stunning for this gen, and I'm truly excited to play it. Got a bit confused finding out it wasn't MGS5, and that MGS5 is in development and is still to come  Between this, Beyond, God of War Ascension and The Last of Us, I swat away those who keep saying this gen needs to die, some great experiences left for us.

Going to see Kojima host the UK Games BAFTA lecture, hopefully get to meet him.

Oh look, another metal gear solid game that has dick to do with metal gear solid sons of liberty.

Why can't these developers make a game and not jump all over the god damn place with the story arch. lol

Link to that MGS5 part and not where it's said that they work on this-gen and nextgen MGS, while all this video was demo'd on a PC?

That was before GZ was official and GZ runs on Fox Engine. Snake being around doesn't mean he's the star.

Dude Ground Zeros is not MGS5...

Hideo Kojima divulged details on Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes at an "introspective" PAX session about the series today. The game's demo was shown recently to attendees at a Metal Gear 25th anniversary event in Japan, and involved Snake sneaking his way through an open world.

So what else is new about Ground Zeroes? It's a "prologue" to Metal Gear Solid 5, says Hideo Kojima. The open world of Ground Zeroes is literally the entire world ? a helicopter can be called to help during missions or ferry Snake in and out of mission levels. Moreover, you can customize the music that the helicopter plays when it arrives to help you ("Flight of the Valkyries" played during the demo we were shown today ? Kojima says the louder the song is, the more of a chance of you getting caught, so maybe Slayer wouldn't be the best choice).

Kojima reiterates that Ground Zeroes is a current-gen game, though Fox Engine is scalable for next-gen as well. He wouldn't give specifics on the name, but calls the game "a beginning" rather than an end for the series.

Is Ground Zeroes the "Project Ogre" we've been wondering about? That's still not clear. What we do know is it's headed to current-gen consoles (360 and PS3 were mentioned) rather than the next, yet-to-be-determined hardware generation.

Konami Cuts the Price on Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

ku-xlarge.png

Folks were complaining about how much it was going to cost to play the first chunk of Snake's next adventure, which seems pretty short. Now it's going to be a bit cheaper, taking some of the cost off of the versions for the new, current-gen consoles. From the press release:

KONAMI has also announced that it will offer both physical and digital versions of METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES for the PlayStation?4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, for an SRP of $29.99. Bringing pricing in-line with the "current generation" price, KONAMI aims to provide as many people as possible an opportunity to experience Kojima Productions' FOX Engine and the first installment in the two-part METAL GEAR SOLID V experience. METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES for PlayStation?3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft will remain at the SRP of $29.99 for retail and via download for SRP $19.99.

Previously, prices for the current-gen versions were $30 digital and $40 physical. The different-prices-for-different-platforms structure for Ground Zeroes has been a controversy ever since it was announced, with many decrying the playable prequel to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain as a demo that players would have to pay for. the varying costs became even more controversial when it became public that Ground Zeroes' playtime can be under two hours, depending on how you play.

Today's release also gave details about an iOS companion app and DLC for Ground Zeroes. The iDroid app will let players call up maps, call in air support or listen to recordings found around the base that Snake infiltrates. And here's how Konami describes the DLC connections that will link coming to Ground Zeroes to The Phantom Pain:

First, it was revealed that those who purchase METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES early on will receive exclusive DLC for use within THE PHANTOM PAIN. The DLC will only be available in the first batch of the retail version and for a limited period of time for the digital version. The DLC provides players with additional resources for a Mother Base area that will be available in THE PHANTOM PAIN. Mother Base is introduced during the events of GROUND ZEROES and plays a central role in the forthcoming METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN. Unlocked through downloadable code, the added staff for Mother Base will give GROUND ZEROES players an edge when they take on THE PHANTOM PAIN.

In addition, anyone that purchases GROUND ZEROES will be able to unlock exclusive content within the game to carry-over to THE PHANTOM PAIN. Prisoners of war and VIPs rescued in GROUND ZEROS will be added to the Mother Base staff in THE PHANTOM PAIN, providing GROUND ZEROES players an early in-game advantage; character skins will also be able to be carried over.

I'm sorry, but there should still be parity with the PS3/360 versions on the download front. The sooner "next gen game tax" stops the better - It never survives, just happens at the start.

However, it's a start Konami.

Glad to hear it. I will pick up the digital version at $20 no doubt about it now. (Y)

EDIT - Actually apparently I will not, as that $20 price is only for the older consoles.

Still a rental from GameFly then.
