Not completely, its only up until the Lambda core, they have only just started creating Xen.

This has been too long since it's inception... I know i's just a community run mod so it's a miracle that they've managed to keep it going and keep it updated over the years.. but I've lost interest. Games have changed. :p

Those guys at Valve are amazing. We can just wait years for their releases and they could care less. You know when they put out a game release its going to be a HUGE because people know the quality of their work. I've thought about what a typical day would be like for their design team, or just exactly what they do over at Valve. Come in for a couple hours, make some coffee, chat with the boys, scratch out a few things on paper and done for the day.

You won't be wondering how why it took so long once you play it, the quality is amazing, personally I wouldn't mind an episodic system for Black Mesa Source, so long as they stick to a strict release time table for new content, just so I can get my hands on this mod faster.

Too bad it will be an incomplete version of the game. Only 8 more years until they finish it?

Makes you glad you didn't put down a deposit or put any of YOUR hard work into it.

I commend them...just a group of folks getting together to recreate HL. Nothing to sneeze at...and regarding the enormous wait....can you do better?

Pretty awesome this is going to be released, i remember reading about this in 2004 and thinking "i wonder how long that will take".

I have put off Playing Half Life again ever since, so will be great to finally play this updated version :) very impressed the BBC has taken notice of the mod too!

This game isn't being made by Valve. It's a fan made project pursued by a handful of developers.

Also, you probably meant to say "they couldn't care less".

That said, I do agree with your post.

What a nonsense argument. No, I can't do better, but by the same token I wouldn't go around touting how great something will be and then not release it for years.

I agree, as much as I admire the effort and time they've put into the game, they did **** up this part. They should've kept their mouths shut until it's done :/

EDIT:

It will have improved graphics, better physics and environmental effects and a tweaked story line.

(...)

The Black Mesa team has also edited the storyline to beef up the more engaging parts of the game and eliminate the slower parts.

I think someone got carried away here...

But you WILL be vocal on the wait?

Best probs not say anything.

Also I dont find it nonsense, just a little illogical. Mainly as to ask such a question takes in no real consideration for outside extenuating circumstances, and the plethora of nonsense these community projects often are involved with.

Me im staying skeptical as weve been down this road before, and whilst Im all for getting my grubby hands on this mod, I have a funny feeling its going to fall a little short of the expectation and hype the team has built for themselves over the years.

There PR side is a total shambles, but then for them to have worked on a low profile, I have to wager that they might not have got this far....

Never thought this would happen. Five years I have been waiting for some kind of release. I thought it was close when they released the trailer but that is three years ago now and I had given up completely on it.

Fantastic!

They said they are going to flesh Xen out and mentioned Xen alone could be its own game.

I'd like to think they've already got the bulk of it done.

Would they be that silly to release part of the game and then spend another year or so to release the final part to it?

Wait a second, don't answer that.
