It's disappointing that it's been 8 years in development and will still be released essentially incomplete, hopefully the Xen levels won't take them too much longer. Still should be good to play

Makes you glad you didn't put down a deposit or put any of YOUR hard work into it.

I commend them...just a group of folks getting together to recreate HL. Nothing to sneeze at...and regarding the enormous wait....can you do better?

Some serious hate here.

SORRY if I'm participating into that thread by sharing my "meh" feeling about the unfinished game that they are releasing. Next time I'll say "yay unfinished game, can't wait to wait to wait to wait for the release date!".

Sub average game? Lol go troll elsewhere

So he has a different opinion than you so he must be a troll. Grow up.

He's right...while parts of it were ground breaking for its time, it's still just an average game. Also, the last boss was the stupidest thing that I have ever seen in a game. WTF were they on when they came up with that?

I'll probably check out Black Mesa when it comes up but I sure want be treating it like the 2nd Coming like some of you.

The gaming community and the gaming press disagree with you. It was more than just ground-breaking at the time - it was genre defining. But don't let that stop you complaining.

Wow, chill out people. If you have no interest in the game, then please don't post in the thread, and go somewhere else. I for one, am excited about this game :p

OH well!! I guess I have to change my opinion now as the gaming community and press disagree with me.

A lot of us would have preferred a more timely release but think about this: the mod is being made by a team of volunteers. They're not being paid by Valve to make this mod and they're doing it out of love and admiration for Half-Life. And they don't have to follow a strict schedule like most game developers.

I'm glad that they finally set a date. I still remember how excited I was when they first announced the game (formerly known as Black Mesa: Source). I must admit that my excitement and interest for the game has dwindled over the past couple of years; however, the news of a mid-September release has rekindled my desire to play it. I actually held off from completing Half-Life just so I could play it with updated graphics.

I agree.

A lot of people are complaining but they'll still play it, just like the rest of us. People who aren't going to play it because it took too long or it is missing Xen. They're going to miss out.

But you WILL be vocal on the wait?

Of course. They shot themselves in the foot by creating so much hype when they still had nothing to show.

As a developer, I keep my mouth shut until I am ready to actually let someone use my app.

Only 30% of the votes it needs, surprising given the amount of hype that's been surrounding this mod. Hopefully Valve will step in and put it on Steam anyway.

That is actually incredibly good when you compare it to other games also being voted on. (see ]"]http://www.shrewdlogarithm.com/greenlight.htm#[[4,1]] ) It's currently in 2nd place (almost first) even though it has been up there for less then half the time of the first place game.

This game isn't being made by Valve. It's a fan made project pursued by a handful of developers.

Also, you probably meant to say "they couldn't care less".

That said, I do agree with your post.

Thanks. Did not know that.

I hope there is a donate button after its released. I know its taken ages, but its being done on peoples non paid time. They have jobs and maybe kids so they might not get as much time as they would like to have in the evening to work on this game.

Well...it's released :)

I'll download after I get home, can't wait.

Nice, same here. Have a full day of work to go, but something to look forward to when I get home.

Remember guys, the only way to actually play it though is to download the SDK 2007 from the Tools section as well. If you do not download and install that, Black Mesa will not run.

Going to try this after work today... hopefully will give me something to do until Borderlands 2.
