Can Electronics Stores Survive ?

Me too! I thought I was the only one. :) Btw, Apple Stores e-mail you receipts when you buy something in the store. I wish all shops did that.

With e-mail receipts I can easily search through all of them in a few seconds and if I need to send someone proof of purchase (e.g. for cashback) I can just save it as a PDF instead of wasting time with a scanner.

Paper receipts are a hassle. They are easily lost, you have to find somewhere to store them and the thermal ink fades after a year or so which makes them unreadable and essentially useless.

One reason I like ordering online, is because I get an email receipt. I have all of my email receipts categorized and stored in Thunderbird and in All Mail in gmail. My email is also backed up to carbonite, an internal drive, 1 disconnected regular 3.5 inch3 3TB sata drive (once per month) and an offsite deposit box backup (also once per month). I hate paper receipts.

Damn good reason right there!! :)

Anytime I have gone into PCworld the place has been completely dead..I suppose there is a reasonable customer base who solely go into stores to talk to advisors and buy ink/printers/games etc etc but I dont see it being big enough to make a company last much longer.

Amazon and alternative online sites are very good and almost always cheaper, you can get super fast delivery, much more choice, discount codes, email receipts.

I was tempted to buy a laptop from PCworld because I was being rediculously impatient but there is no point, compare it to online stores and wait an extra day sorta thing.

BestBuy will be around. They make a boat load of cash during the holidays. I've seen several Radio Shacks shut down around here that couldn't do any business. GameStop's will be history before long, everything is going to be downloaded. I've gone into the store a couple times in the last few months to buy some products such as a tablet and HD when I didn't want to mess with Tiger or NewEgg. I was actually surprised the prices were the same if not cheaper on some things. BestBuy also does a huge amount of business with cell phones and TV's.
