Harrison H.
Would it be possible to have the notifications added to the main page and not just the forums? Most of the time I visit neowin from the main page, and then go to the forums. This way I can see new topics, and new articles in one view. However, to see if anyone has replied to main page topics and the forums, I have to go to the forums. It's not a big deal, but seeing everything from the main page would be appreciated. Thanks. oliver182 1 Share
Steven P. Administrators Posted September 3, 2012 Administrators Share Posted September 3, 2012 If it can be done, we'll add it. I've already asked Redmak to look into it. oliver182 1 Share
nekkidtruth
Shameless plug: http://www.neowin.ne...__fromsearch__1 For the record, that was back in December as well. It's now...September...lol
Harrison H.
I even searched to see if this was requested before. I wonder if it's because I searched for notifications instead of notification, or if the result was on the second page which I didn't go to. oliver182
I think the same, we need them on the main page :)
+Elі Subscriber² Posted September 3, 2012 Subscriber² Share Posted September 3, 2012 Actually I have thought of this in the past, it would be really nice to see notifications on the front page too.

Mystic Mungis
Excellent! It seems so natural, I just came on and looked at my notifications on the main page and didn't even realise I had done so till I noticed this thread :p Whoever coded it did a nice job, looks much nicer than the one on the forum :)
cacoe
I get this error when clicking the notifications button on the front page...
Mystic Mungis
Yeah I'm getting the error now too, was working for me a couple of minutes ago. I clicked it so many times to see the animation that I broke it :p
cacoe
Seems to be fine now... Do you plan to add the same animation to the forums for consistency?

nekkidtruth
It's working fine for me now as well. Can't even describe how ecstatic I am that this has finally been implemented. Such a fantastically convenient feature!
cacoe
Has anyone else had their notifications buttons lighting up as white (as though you have a message) even when you don't? I went into the notification centre and set all messages as viewed just in case there was one I missed but still, every time I visit neowin it looks like I have new messages/notifications. I went into the notification centre and set all messages as viewed just in case there was one I missed but still, every time I visit neowin it looks like I have new messages/notifications. The only thing I've noticed, and this happens with the icon on both the main page and the forums page (or My Content page), is if there is a notification and I go to that thread, but don't use the notification icon to go to that thread, it stays lit up. I have to physically click on the icon to see the notifications and then the next time the page is refreshed, it's no longer lit up. That being said, the main page notification icon and the icon on the other pages on the site, are not running off the same database?, cookie?, code? because I have to physically click on both the front page one, and the forum one to get rid of both notifications. If I forget one, it continues to show new content.

Redmak Administrators Posted September 11, 2012 Administrators Share Posted September 11, 2012 Bold for unread notifications added The notifications are set to "read" and the "new notifications icon" is disabled when you click the icon on main. I thought that was the best way to go about. I haven't really looked at the forums so that still works as IPB intended.
cacoe
One more Bold for unread notifications added The notifications are set to "read" and the "new notifications icon" is disabled when you click the icon on main. I thought that was the best way to go about. I haven't really looked at the forums so that still works as IPB intended. One more thing (and I might just be getting picky here) when middle clicking to open a notification in a new tab on the forums, the menu stays open so you can open a bunch of threads all at once, whereas on the front page, the notifications menu slides back in every time. Any chance of keeping it open on clicks? Thanks!
