Zen Pinball 2 (PS3 - PS Vita Crossplay)

Recommended Posts

So Zen Pinball 2 was released today for PS3 and PS Vita.

It does support cross play so if you buy one version, the other is free.

I have to say, if you are a PS3-Vita owner, it really is a game you have to pick up if you have even the slightest interest in Pinball games.

The thing is were Pinball Arcade goes for true realism and physics, Zen Pinball, while the ball physics seem pretty dead on to me, definitely goes for the more arcade, fantastical approach to their tables.

And at the top of that list is the new DLC that was also released today, the Plants Vs Zombies table. It is $2.99 for just the one table, but it really is damn worth it.

The other thing is with Zen Pinball 2, they have introduced full stereoscopic 3D support.

Now if you happen to be one of the minority who owns a 3D TV, well then this game turns into a must purchase.

I can say pretty confidently this is probably the best 3D I have seen in any game to date. The whole concept of a pinball table just lends itself perfectly to 3D. My wife, who is a 3D skeptic at the very least (translation = she hates it), was even impressed by how good the 3D is. It truly is a showcase for what 3D gaming should be.

So to download the game itself is free, and you get some trial tables. They also have Marvel themed tables, and a few other random tables as well.

I will leave a Plants vs Zombie gameplay video from PAX.

And let me just add, as soon as I posted this, I spent the next hour playing the Vita version of the game, and in some ways, it is actually better then the PS3 version, it fits the handheld Vita perfectly. (Y)

Already have the Marvel Tables from Zen Pinball and they apparently will all be imported to 2. Looking forward to playing this in 3D if it is as good as you say it is :)

Will grab the download tonight as soon as I get home and also fire up the Vita as well. Need to pick up another memory card as my 16GB is now full though :( Have a ?150 gift card though so at least it won't be costing me anything, also hoping to pick up LBP on release too.

Let me know what you think. I also have the Marvel tables, just did not check out the 3D on them yet. But yeah the 3D is damn good, really works perfectly.

I also played on my Vita until midnight, which is late as hell for me, usually long asleep by 11:30. I think the Plants vs Zombies is by far the best table. I checked out all the tables I own on the Vita, and it was almost like the marvel ones are to busy visually. You can still absolutely play them, but Plants vs Zombies is the better experience on the Vita IMO.

PvZ is certainly a pretty table, did find it quite easy though and rather repetitive got over the 150 million mark and then let the balls fall through so I could go do some chores. Looks great in 3D looking forward to trying on the Vita once Sony pull their fingers out and get me my replacement. Picked up a new 32GB card tonight on eBay for ?46 so decent price there given that the 16GB go for around ?35-40

So says you. Was wondering how the hell you got 161 million on it. I guess it is a pretty easy table though, although I am not near that score yet.

And replacement Vita?? What happened to yours?

The girlfriend had a bit of a sh*t fit during an argument. Also tipping my TV forward and smashing the framing, fortunately the screen didn't smash. The Vita however isn't good. ?144 for a direct replacement from Sony, but it's turning in to quite an ordeal due to incompetent couriers.

Damn, sorry to hear that. You are a better man then me, as her ass would be on the curb. She can touch me all she wants, but once my electronics come into play, oh hell no!

Not a Vita owner, but I've installed this today for my PS3. I own Zen Pinball 1, plus a few DLC tables, and it imported them (well, re-downloaded them) into 2. It feels more like a massive patch than a new game, but it does give me access to all the Marvel tables now as well. I'm sure I'll be downloading them in time too.

Got to give credit to Zen for how they've done this. Everything for me was free, as I already own 1. They could of charged a fiver or so, and I probably would of paid it, but effectively giving it away to existing customers is a really nice, and refreshing gesture, and crossplay is just the icing on the cake (Y)
