At the time of writing of this post, It has been almost a year since the BUILD 2011 happened. BUILD, which was on September 13, 2011, was all about Windows 8. It also showed off, for the first time ever, the new Windows Store. The Store was fully functioning although it was turned off in the public Developer Preview of Windows 8.

Now that Windows 8 has RTM'd, let's look back in time and see how Windows Store was a year ago. You will be surprised how the pre-beta store resembles so much the RTM store. Enjoy the four minutes of the first ever demo of the Windows Store!

There are a bunch, including Office 2010 and Visual Studio (not sure if it's 2012 or 2011). But you can't actually download them, there's only a link to a website.

Hahaha! You are too funny! No desktop apps on the Windows Store? Are you serious??? Okay, then, here's a picture of the Windows Store with desktop apps on it. Now do you notice them?

The store has barely changed since I've used it (Consumer Preview) and I still don't like it. It is terrible for discovering new apps and the color tiles do not make much sense. The store should be immensely organized to get the ball rolling but it is one of the worst parts of Windows 8.

It does list Desktop Apps for what it's worth but I think most people will find desktop apps the way they always did.
