I will be connecting an iPhone 4S (to charge), an Xbox 360 HD DVD drive etc. - so yes, they're high powered devices.
The point of powered hubs is if you have lots of high drain devices such as phones, tablets, games consoles, trying to draw too much power.
They aren't faster at data transfer.
