Resident Evil 6 demo out today!

Recommended Posts

It's currently available on Xbox Live, but PSN users are going to have to wait until later in the day. I just thought I'd post this news, so everyone can go out and snag it up if you're into the series. Also, use this thread to discuss what you think about the new demo.

PC gamers getting left out; again.

Has that ever been any different? We are always left out.

It's a shame, in all honesty. Will RE 6 even be released for the PC at all?

Development on the PC version started recently so it won't be released alongside the console versions. That explains the lack of a PC demo.

I enjoyed RE:5, me and my friend went through it several times, then worked our way through the mercenary mode, great stuff.

I haven't read much on RE:6, but I'll be sure to get the demo next week and give it a go. What do the people of Neowin that have already tried it think? I'd also like to know if you enjoyed RE:5, just so I have some sort of comparison for RE:6.

Well that sucks.

Pretty cool, should go check out the demo. Thanks for the tip (Y)

You're very welcome.

This is my review of the Resident Evil 6 demo. You can check out my original articles here: http://thetrendguys....-6-demo-review/

Resident Evil 6 Demo ? Introduction

I?m so hyped for Resident Evil 6 that it?s not even funny. I?ve been a big Resident Evil fan since I played the very first one on Playstation. Yes, the long box version. Either way, it?s safe to say that I can?t wait until the Resident Evil release date; October 2nd.

Resident Evil 6 Demo ? What?s Included?

The Resident Evil 6 demo allows you to play 3 different scenarios. You have 3 main characters and a partner. You can either play as Leon Kennedy, Jake or Chris Redfield. Also, you can play as one of their partners. I was able to play all of them in probably 30-45 minutes including the cutscenes. I?m not exactly sure, as I wasn?t keeping track of time and was just way too excited to be playing the new Resident Evil demo.

Resident Evil 6 Demo ? My Thoughts

Honestly, I love the new Resident Evil 6 and can?t wait for the final game to be released on October 2nd. You better bet that I will be playing the game that day. Hell, I?ll probably even snag the collector?s edition. However, I do have a complaint:

The Gameplay in Resident Evil 6 Could be Better.

I?m hoping that the controls are fixed in the final game. I had some major problems posting up against a wall. Honestly, it seemed more like a random occurrence rather than something that I would do on purpose. Whenever i would try to post up on a wall, I would end up getting owned. Whenever I didn?t want to post up on a wall, I would get owned. That annoyed the hell out of me.

Also, in Resident Evil 6, you do have the ability to go under and over tables. You can jump over them, slide over them, etc? You can also pull a Dukes of Hazzard and slide over the hood of cars. Honestly, this feature got on my nerves a little bit. Sometimes, I?d be in an intense battle and accidentally slide over the hood of a car or a table and find myself in the line of fire. No, you don?t push a button to do the sliding animation, you just simply run up to the object and it happens automatically. So, it?s not like I was being retarded and tapping the hell out of buttons while I was running towards a car or table.

I also found the camera to be annoying at time. It?s so close to the back of your character?s head and positioned way too low. Therefore, you will have times where your own character gets in your line of sight. Sometimes, I couldn?t even see the enemies directly in front of me as they were shooting me. Yeah, that was pretty annoying.

Also, due to the camera, you?ll have a tough time finding things in the game. For instance, you?ll come across boxes that you can smash open. Usually, these boxes carry health, ammo, etc? In other words, they?re some items that can be considered vital and you need them. However, due to the camera, you?ll have a really hard time spotting them and probably just end up running by them. It?s hard to tell how many boxes and items that I just ran by and have no clue about.

The camera is so bad that I would run by zombies trying to kill me and have no idea that they were even there. I would have had no clue unless I heard them moan or heard my partner shooting or saying something. If you were one of those Resident Evil players that really liked to explore areas and find hidden objects, you?re going to be let down by the camera and gameplay style. Play the demo and you?ll see what I mean.

Resident Evil 6 ? What?s the Verdict?

As I said above, I absolutely love the game and I think it will be awesome to play the final version. Sure, I had some complaints, but they don?t compare to the awesomeness that is Resident Evil 6. Just play the demo or pick up the game when it?s released and you will see what I?m talking about.

Strange because I have to push a button to slide over the hood of cars and jump over objects.

After playing all three campaigns my favorite is Leon's campaign because it is the only one that feels like a Resident Evil game. Near the end of the demo I was surrounded by zombies in a tight space and it was crazy running and shooting. The other two campaigns just felt like a diffrent game with open areas and enemies that shoot back at you constantly. I know in other Resident Evil games you were shot at but Chris Redfield's campaign was just take cover and shoot and the action did not get too hetic.

I played Leons campain and enjoyed it. I did read some about the MP you can invade or be invaded I forget what they called it but you pop up in someone elses game as a zombie and try to get them.

Uhh.. I can't download it. It isn't in the demo section. When I search for it, it lists a RE6 Public demo but when I select it it just takes to me a gallery/details screen.

I played it last night, but only Leons part. I might try the other 2 later for the hell of it. So far it feels like RE4 but tweaked to move faster. One thing I've noticed, and I guess this is just to make it harder, but why the hell does the targeting dot move around so much? Is that part of the difficulty setting or something, after you take your first shot the dot just floats and sways around before it finally stops and if you have to move before it stops that just makes it move around more.

I suppose you have to get used to it but it's not like i'm walking or running when I was aiming. I was standing still, and it's swaying all over the place.

Has that ever been any different? We are always left out.

Did you mean in the Resident Evil series? Because I immediately thought of Borderlands 2 - weren't there. Along with any other game that received texture packs, oh and the modding communities, oh and that one thing - Steam workshop - that adds so much to the games its incorporated into (Skyrim). I realize you could be referring to just demo's, I just wanted to get all this out there. PC, by default gets more overall to their gamers than console but.. (imo) its more expensive to upgrade what I consider to be "constantly".

Hmm, for one, console games can be modded. My nephew has mods running on his consoles. Not sure how he did it, but he has some Skyrim mods installed. But my point in that statement was the fact that PC gamers are usually the last to get games.

You can mod console games but you'll either need to keep the console offline or not play that game online and hope they don't find out how you modified the games, or have an XDK (developer's xbox) which won't work on xbox live anyway.

:( What have they done. The HUD, controls & quicktime events all seem like a step back. I love pretty much every Resident Evil game (excluding Outbreak, but that was just because of the long load times) but this doesn't even feel like a Resident Evil game.

The demo made me cancel my pre-order.

I was going to get it so I can play online with my friend and sell it back when done but i just might skip it and wait for a price drop or not get it at all.

Damn QTE

I'll wait for PC version and get it by other means. I also thought the controls were just weird. I still don't get what's up with the funky aiming going on?

Well, I bought the game and I have played it a little bit.

... It's really quite upsetting just how poor the game is compared to 4 and 5. The game just feels like it was rushed. It has no personality, and everything feels a bit flat. There's very little interactivity, and the level design is dull as dishwater too.

Some textures are that shockingly bad that I waited a moment as I thought the textures hadn't loaded yet. But they had. They were just really that bad. Frankly the game looks unfinished. It feels more like a beta version than a final release.

Meh, I am severely disappointed. Don't buy this game. :p I've played every major Resident Evil game and have played them until the end more than once. This will be the first time I won't.
