Children exposed to porn during Disney movie

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -- It started out as any typical morning inside Georgie Brown's Fairview, NC, home.

"The kids wanted to see Lilo and Stitch," explained Brown. Brown has a son who is almost 2, a 3-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son.

Brown had recorded the movie on one of the "Disney Channel" channels on Dish Network on Sept. 7 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Three days later, she switched on the recording for her children to watch while she did work in a nearby room.

Brown said that about a minute into the recording, an alert box appeared, stating "part of the recorded event has been lost due to signal loss, the picture pixilated and video of a man and woman having sex appeared. She said the explicit video continued for six minutes before another signal-loss message popped onto the screen and the Disney movie reappeared.

The video was so graphic that neither FOX Carolina nor the Disney Channel are allowed to air it.

Brown said she was in her kitchen working when she realized what she was hearing was not the heartwarming Disney movie.

"I just heard things that probably shouldn't be on Lilo or Stitch," she said. "My first thought was the children have changed the channel."

However, Brown's children had not changed the channel, she said. Instead, the six-minute pornographic video was recorded within the movie, Brown said.

"If you can imagine Maggie Simpson sitting on a sofa watching porn that was him just sitting there sucking his pacifier kind of clueless," Brown said of her youngest child's reaction. "My 5-year-old grabbed his ears and ran out of the room screaming, 'I didn't do it,' and the 3-year-old was sitting there crying."

Brown showed FOX Carolina's Cody Alcorn the information page from the movie she recorded. Alcorn said it was very clear it was Lilo and Stitch from 2002. It was rated PG.

Cody Alcorn talked to David Guttey, a contractor for Dish Network, who looked at Brown's receiver.

"I've been in the TV industry for 15 years and I've never once seen that," Guttey said. "It kind of had me astonished."

Guttey said he does not believe the appearance of the sexually explicit video was Brown's fault.

"If they would have stopped one and started another it would have set up another recording and it wouldn't have just followed on through."

Guttey said there is a chance anyone watching this program on Sept. 7, likely saw the six-minute clip of pornography.

Brown said while she's still waiting on answers from Dish Network, she's trying to work through this incident with her kids.

"When I told [my children] you guys were coming and to talk about the television, they mimicked the action and sound back to me, and they're only 3 and 5," Brown said.

Brown called Dish Network to report the problem. The network issued this statement:

"We have technology in place to help ensure we deliver the content that subscribers want to watch. We are working with various partners and our customers to better understand what occurred."

FOX Carolina contacted Disney to get a statement on the incident, but the network has not returned the calls.

Oh noes! The world is ending because some kids saw sex!

I can guarantee you the kids reactions were prompted ENTIRELY by their mums reaction. No way kids that age would have understood what was happening on screen, or that it was "bad".

Personally, I'd be more concerned about the kids seeing the violence in Lilo & Stitch than a bit of nookie. :p

So since she watched the whole scene it means she liked it right ?

You are right, we shouldn't even be wasting time figuring out what happened and just let full uncensored sex be shown to everyone, including children, because it will have no effect on them whatsoever. What you are saying you are concerned a bout is a parenting issue. If a parent decides to let their kids watch something violent on TV, that is the parents fault. If the parent is subscribed to porn channels and the kid is unattended and finds the porn channel. That is the parents fault. This story is about a company that says it keeps this material away from children as much as they possibly can in accordance with the law has failed to do so.

I was never "exposed" to porn involuntarily when I was younger. I had to seek it out. :)

I once got my hands on a DOS solitaire game on a floppy that had nudes on the backs of cards instead of the number graphics. Ignorance was nice back then. You could enjoy pixelated and off color graphics more. Now I can't stand playing N64 games that I know are great games, just because of the graphics.

Since you brought it up, what kind of effect would it have on children? Do you think they'll reach puberty quicker? Will they start humping everything? Do you think they'll be grossed out by heterosexual sex and become homosexuals? Do you think that they'll become so bored by seeing human sex that they'll seek out acts of bestiality? What?

I'd be more upset if I was watching porn and a Disney movie streamed into it by accident, Now that would make an awkward moment if someone walked in on ya.

LMAO

That, definitely.

However, they do need to figure out how that got slipped in (stuck in? inserted? yeah, can't find a non-suggestive way to say it, ha) when the original program dropped out... that's weird.

That is what you get for letting a T.V. babysit your kids, while you are in the other room.

Either way, it's not, as some have said, as bad as violence. So what, it's sex. They might be too young to learn about it but big deal, they won't remember for long, and it won't scar them. Unlike a violent movie, at that age.

so a 3 and 5 yr old saw some sex from a scrambled up channel, sex images which they should not even understand at all at those ages, and this is now a major issue? Oh wait, the kids were screaming and running out of the room... umm WHAT? Can we dive into why that would cause kids to run out like they ran into a demon with red eyes and 15 heads and tentacles??? Something up with that.

Also, woo hoo for electronic babysitter - Go TV!!!! How about sitting with your kids, or umm not leaving them unsupervised.

^ In fairness, parents can't sit with their kids, 24/7 -- they need to do other things to take care of the family, and their personal needs.

I have 4 kids, and know what they are watching all the time in my home. I understand needing to do stuff, but throwing on tv and not watching what they are doing is insane given today's world.

Heck, most kids can pick up the remote and hit random numbers and have it pop up on a channel that's playing sexy coed blossoming nymphs or something like that... got to be careful.

If you don't have the time, don't be a parent. TV Babysitters are the worst thing for a child, much worse than just watching 6 minutes of Porn. There are countless studies on how before age 5 kids shouldn't watch TV at ALL, let alone for hours and hours. I understand her case, and it's not right that it happened, but to be honest, she should have been there to turn it off immediately with kids at that age.

Definitely weird. I've used Dish and Directv for almost 10 years now and I have never seen anything like that.

The kids reaction when seeing those sex scenes?

Ew.....Gross!!..where's my cartoon??

I seriously think those parents who think sex scenes traumatize kids are pedophiles themselves.
