How secure is Windows Phone 8?

Recommended Posts

I recent read an article comparing iOS 6 versus Blackberry OS: http://arstechnica.c...ise-management/

Which basically stated that iOS6 is on par now in terms of security when properly secured using an MDM platform. So my question is....how secure is the WP8 platform?

For the first time since the original iPhone was released I am actually considering a different phone and I am really impressed with the new nokia lumia 920.

Windows Phone 8 hasn't been released yet but if Windows Phone 7 is any indicator it's pretty secure.

Never mind jakem1 did a better response :)

A hoe is an ancient and versatile agricultural tool used to move small amounts of soil. :D

Funny....very funny. My spelling sucks lately. But it is nice to know that WP8 is going to be good. The nokia phone is looking better and better everyday. Now if it was just available to buy already.

Not long now and good things come to those who wait :)

Yeah, November is going to be a big month for new stuff. New WP8 phones, Surface or other Win8 tablets etc. Good thing i've been saving up money for most of the year.

Let's just say that if you wear a Win Phone 8 condom, your hoe won't get pregnant.

Why not just say YOLO!! Just don't do it when you are moving at 120MPH!

Hello,

Here's an article I wrote on the subject of Windows Phone 8 from the beginning of the year: Windows Phone 8: Security Heaven or Hell?

At the time I wrote it, there was not much information publicly available about WP8, so it was more speculative in nature, however, I think the general premise behind it is still sound, which is that if threats do appear, they are going to be more along the lines of chain-of-trust abuses and scams, as opposed to the kind of malware one is currently seeing on the Android platform.

Aryeh Goretsky

It's actually the Dutch word for how ;)

It's actually also an Afrikaans word for how as well!! ;)

BTW my original comment was intended as a joke, not really a debate about what the word means!

  • 1 year later...

interesting, I moved completely to Windows Phone and I love it. Coming from Android.

Ditto.  Coming from iPhone.

The only thing on my wish list is an InPrivate mode for IE.  Strange that it isn't there.

Interestingly enough I read a news article this weekend that Chinese hackers have found a jailbreak for the Lumia 920 using the microUSB port. I don't have a link, but it'll probably show up soon if it's legit.  Though I wonder if it'll survive the upgrade to Lumia Black.

Unless you share your phone, it wouldn't serve much purpose. The ISP still knows where you're browsing.

Understandable. As little as I browse on the phone, the delete history options works well enough.
