"Oh, **** this ****. I’m gonna play a ****ing new song."
This is Billie Joe Armstrong responding to Green Day’s set being cut short at the iHeartRadio Music Festival last night in Las Vegas.
The band was performing "Basket Case"; from 1994's Dookie when a one-minute warning flashed up on a teleprompter. Organisers were reportedly running 25 minutes behind schedule so they decided to slash Green Day&'s set to make way for a 45-minute performance by Usher. Annoyed that he couldn't unveil any new songs from forthcoming album Uno, Armstrong took out his frustrations on Justin Bieber (who wasn't even at the festival) and a hapless guitar.
Here’s the transcript of his rant in full:
Oh, **** this ****. I'm going to play a ****ing new song. **** this ****. Give me a ****ing break. One minute left. One minute ****ing left. You're going to give me one ****ing minute? Look at that ****ing sign right there ,one minute. Let me ****ing tell you something, let me tell you something, I've been around since ****ing 198-****ing-8. And you're going to give me one ****ing minute? You've got to be ****ing kidding me! You're ****ing kidding me. What the ****! I'm not ****ing Justin Bieber, you **********ers. You've got to be ****ing joking. This is a ****ing joke. I got one minute , one minute left. Oh, now I got nothing left. Let me show you what one ****ing minute ****ing means. One minute. God ****ing love you all. We'll be back.
Armstrong recently revealed that Green Day is planning an Australian visit in “February or March” next year, with some smaller, more intimate shows on the cards. http://www.fasterlou...nt-since-Dookie
I agree with him, thats bull ****. The least popular Green Day song is way better than any Usher or Bieber song.
**** Usher! He can't sing anyway! All he does is babble and talk through his music...can't stand him. I'd take Green Day ANYTIME over Usher! Epic video is epic, though! Right on, Green Day! You tell 'em!
You know, I really can't blame him for being 'upset' about being cut short. The F Bombs were really too excessive. To be playing at such a great event, and being such a great band that these guys are, and then being told your being cut that short because of being behind schedule, that is like slapping them in the face.
GO BILLIE JOE!
I mean, seriously? Green Day gets cut? Ridiculous.
I'd have liked to see the rest, too hehe
Bad time management of the organizers, they surely could just add another 20 minutes to the event, it's not like the world's breaking apart if they do lol...
(Yes money, but their fault sheesh)

You mean as in the funny wore of quickly and he should have varied his swearing a little more?
And, to make it worse, now they're blaming substance abuse and saying Clear Channel did nothing wrong. Man, these corporations have that card handy way way too often.

Obviously it's not the most professional way to handle things but I can understand the frustration of having a set cut short by 25 minutes (that's about half the length of their typical album), especially when it wasn't their fault and it was to make way for Usher of all people. It's also bad for the fans, as they'd have had to skip lot of the songs that people are familiar with. It's really sad that rather than have the entire concert run behind they cut Green Day's set; is such a short delay really that important?
I have the new album Uno!, I think it's pretty good not sure what you guys think? Typically Green Day sound, not that different to past albums, but I've always liked their sound.
On the song "Kill The DJ" every second word is **** or ****ing!

Exactly, this has NOTHING to do with substance abuse. The guy was just ****ed, and rightfully so. It's kind of nice to see some people still have the balls to speak their mind and stick up to these corporate goons.
