FMH
Hi. I have a few questions regarding the new iPod 5. 1. The iPhone 4 had a better screen than iPod 4, as iPod didn't have that IPS display technology. Is it the same case with iPod 5 and iPhone 5? Or do they have the same display? 2. Will their be an iPod 5 with memory less than 32Gb? I don't use that much space. 3. Does the iPod 5 have a GPS chip? Thanks! Brandon H Supervisor Posted September 23, 2012 Supervisor Share Posted September 23, 2012 I'm pretty sure the iPod 4g had the same display as the iPhone 4, the iPod touch just had a not as good camera I've compared the screen of my iPod Touch to my cousin's iPhone 4 and the screens are the same (unless I'm blind, but that's beside the point :p) 2. if they do make a smaller model, it won't be for another year probably 3. it doesn't mention GPS on the tech specs on Apples web site so no

The iPod 5G has an IPS display now, as opposed to the iPhone 5 which has In-Cell display technology. So colors should look more saturated on the iPhone 5. I haven't seen the iPod Touch 5G yet, just like anyone else hasn't :p but: iPhone 5 looks AMAZING. The colors are way more saturated. That's thanks due to the pixel layer being behind a thinner layer. 2. Wow... Hmmm... I guess that might eventually change maybe, hehe... idk? Anyhow, only 32GB and 64GB will be available. Time to move on and remove this ****** of 16GB and push for 128GB as top model, Jesus... The iPod Classic still is not beaten by FAR. Ridiculous. 3. No, it uses WiFi to geotag pictures and for positioning, similar to the first gen iPhone. If you need precise geotagging, etc, go for the iPhone or look elsewhere. :) Although if you don't take a lot of pics or videos, I guess manually adjusting the geotags might be ok, too or you don't care about precision with that that much. No, the iPhone 4 / 4s did have a better screen than the iPod Touch 4G, which lacked the IPS technology. 2. See above, they probably finally got their a**es up and move on. Props to them. 3. Yea, it lacks that, that's for certain. Glassed Silver:mac
FMH
Thanks for the answers guys. And there is a difference between the display in iPod 4 and iPhone 4, Brando. It is very hard to tell the difference if you view the screens perpendicularly. Try viewing side-ways. iPod 4 has really bad viewing angles, while iPhone has around 179? viewing angle. Stetson
The iPod touch 5th gen has the exact same display as the iPhone 5. The previous iPod Touch (fourth generation) sported a display the same resolution as the iPhone 4/4S, but it was not the same display. The iPod Touch?s retina display was lesser ? less saturated, less vibrant. So too was it in the pre-retina era. Not anymore. I double-checked with Apple after the event and what Joswiak said on stage is the truth ? the new Touch sports the exact same display as the iPhone 5. http://daringfireball.net/2012/09/iphone_5 I saw this confirmed by a couple of other sites as well. I doubt there will be a 16GB version this year. It doesn't have a GPS chip. FMH 1 Share

The descriptions for the display on Apple's tech specs site was different with iPod mentioning IPS display and the iPhone not, so I thought they'd dub their in-cell display differently, at least internally and IPS would be an iPhone4/4S/iPod 5G description kind of thing. Well in that case, awesome! You'll adore the display, that's for certain. Glassed Silver:mac
