Houston police fatally shoot threatening wheelchair-bound amputee in head

The one that was trapped was not the one that shot and also not the one with the issues that make him snap when it comes to a stabbing threat. Nobody is saying what he did was right, but people are saying he was just trigger happy or some other retarded excuse for it. The cop(not the one that was stuck) should have not been on the streets with the unresolved issues. Every time a police office kills someone, they are suppose to be taken off the streets and evaluated to make sure the experience didn't mess them up in some way. Seems like whoever cleared this cop for duty failed at their job. What the cop did was wrong but suggesting he could have done something else when he clearly has issues is a bit of a moot point.

So isn't that what he was saying? He was saying the other cop should have grabbed the wheelchair and pulled it away / thrown the guy out of it. But instead he grabs a gun and shoots him.

What Shakey says is right, if you can't handle stressful situations without shooting someone quit your ****ing job. And also how the **** does a wheelchair guy trap a full grown cop? One has a very small range of motion, can't really lunge or chase after you the other has both his legs and arms and can easily get out of the way.

Sorry, us civilized folks like to also hold a person responcible for their own actions. Messed up or not, the cop should know his limitations. If you can't handle stressful events without first shooting, you shouldn't be in the line of duty.

That's true and I agree 100%. However, we have millions of police officers who work throughout our country and it's just the 1% of the nut cases that get all the publicity. I'm not a fan of cops but most of them do an excellent job.

One of the big issues (and not sure if it applies in this case) is that a lot of vets are coming back, leaving the service, and go for their local LEO jobs.

The problem is a lot of them end up having PTSD that went undiagnosed, and they don't seek help. So they end up snapping at some point and the results are something like this. Some of the other results you've seen in the occupy movement. A lot of the LEO's that go out to those protests that are vets are the ones that snap and end up causing the things to go south.

I'm not blaming them for wanting employment, but I am saying that if they were properly diagnosed and not allowed to work these positions then it wouldn't happen as often.
