Vasectomys

Recommended Posts

ok so our baby is due in December and we have 90% decided we aint going to have anymore so started looking into this

i obviously wont get one until we are 100% sure we wont be having anymore

I would like to hear some experiences and comments about it

There are loads of horror stories on the internet but also lots of good stories too

so my question is if you have had one

1. How was the pain during and after

2. was it the scalpel or non scalpel method

3. any complications

Thanks

WE. Meaning you and your wife? And should the worst thing happen and you split for any reason, and WE became you and someone else?

Sorry to be a dick, but just had to ask the question.

not being a dick at all, these need to be asked :)

yes We, me and my wife

I had never really thought about kids till we got together and got married

tried for years and then got pregnant so was a really happy exciting time

the what happens if we ever split crossed my mind but happiest i have ever been in my life and i know the worst could happen but as i say never really wanted kids till i was with her :)

Earlier this week I heard that it is now a 5 minute process and relatively painless as well. I don't know this for sure though, and I'm not looking into it myself. Good luck with whatever you decide Haggis! And congrats in advance for December.

Funny. Myself and a few coworkers were talking about this last night. I'd refuse to do it and so would the other 3 guys I talked with. One had considered it but changed his mind after our discussion. I'd say you should have her tied instead. At least that way, you can reverse it.

yeah she cant take the pill lol

i would rather be sore for a few days then her getting sterilised too as its a more major op

Nah i feel its a bit selfish that they would put their wives through a major op rather than have the snip

Either that or cowards

For example a Vasectomy you can go back to work the next day if you want to

its done under local Anesthetic and is not even needed to use a scalpel

Female one your out for a week, its a general anesthetic (of which my wife is allergic to) and is invasive

You could reverse that though and say it's selfish for the wife to force you to make a permanent change to your body vs a temp reversible change to her own

It's not 1930 anymore, women want and have the same rights etc as men now

Invasive Surgery vs Keyhole Surgery

1 day downtime vs 1 week downtime minimum

Ask your wife if she would have herself sterilized and tell her that you would not have sex rather than do it

then tell me the same answer with your black eye lmao

 My missus would do it if I asked her to, but I wouldn't want her to, and I wouldn't do it either.

There are things called condoms too, they work (sometimes :p ) Double bubble if you're worried about the 1st one popping :p

Chemical castration also an option

Chemical castration isn't the same thing as a vasectomy.

I assume he still wants to "roll in the hay" with his wife.

From what I've heard, it's pretty much painless and simple surgery. The only issue with it is that sometimes your "bits" can.. fix themselves >.>

Other than that, sounds good :)

I was joking about CC and I`m not saying he shouldn't get the snip, just that I wouldn't do it

That said, I'm not married, don't have kids and have only been with my gf for 4 years and she can and does take the pill

She wants kids, I hate kids :p

So she wants kids, you don't, and you're leaving the birth control up to her?

Hehe... I'll go ahead and prepare some pink and blue boxes of cigars ;)

lol, she was taking the pill before I met her, I didn't ask her to start, but yea, if she can take a tiny tablet once a day vs some crazy surgeon wielding a scalpel next to my nuts, then yea, I`ll leave it up to her :p

EDIT - Slow today, just clicked on about the cigars bit..... umm yea, I 'think' I can trust her to take them :p

If not, I still have my passport somewhere :D

I'd consider a vasectomy. I do not want children myself, and if my s.o. doesn't want any either it's the easiest solution. Less invasive than her getting sterilised, and safer than relying on condoms and/or the pill.

Being on the pill can wreak havoc on the system though, I know from experience. Messes with hormones and even changes the physiology of the body and who/what types of men she is attracted to. It's way more complicated than people realise.

Vasectomy is quick and almost painless these days, is a one-time procedure as opposed to constantly having to take a drug, and often can be reversed (certain types, anyway). I'm all in favour

I had mine done with the no scalpel method. I ended up having 1 stitch because one of my tubes was looped funny according to the doctor.

After surgery pain was next to nothing. Couple tylenol and I was good to go.

:D I would seriously prefer to be Celibate than go under the knife

If there was a pill men could take I would happily take it if she didn't want to

Haha wow.

I'm not knocking you guys' decision, don't take it that way :) It's always just a choice between the two people in the couple, nobody else's business. Just saying, sometimes people don't realise exactly how the Pill works. It's worth doing some research, especially in a situation where a woman you are dating either was taking it before you got together and is going to stop, or wasn't before and is going to start. It can change a lot of things. But of course it affects everyone differently.

As I said before, though, it's obviously a very individual thing :)
